Subject: Spectating/registering at IMLP...Any other BTers going?
Hi!
I am hoping to head up on Friday. I also hope to ride one loop of the course on Saturday. Is anyone interested in joining me? It will be a super easy ride. I will be competing in the Musselman Half the Sunday before. I am also up for a swim...

My reason for going is to cheer on some pals and then register Monday morning for 2008. It would be fun to have someone to ride with and to meet some of you!

My wife and I will be heading up there on Friday as well. We're camping out at KOA, nearby. I too have planned to ride one loop on Sat. at an easier pace. Haven't figured out the details yet. We'll be volunteering the day of the race, and like you, I will be signing up for 2008.

I am hoping to go up on Friday I suppose, swim & ride on Sat, run somewhere/at some point on Sun (I'll be in the thick of my HIM training), register for '08 on Monday. This is all contigent on me finding a place to stay, however....

so this is what it's come to huh? Going to an IM to ensure the next year's registration. Yeah, I guess  IM popularity has gone through the roof.

How much is driven by your desire to gaurantee registartion vs your desire to spectate? Just curious.

LOL...Not quite...My coach strongly suggested that I take in the whole atmosphere of an IM before my first one...IMLP is the only one that is driveable for me and I have a place to stay. Of course, it makes perfect sense to register while I am there. I could easily have asked one of my pals that is competing this year and again next year to register me Monday morning. (I think each of us can register ourselves and one other person?)
I'll also be flying out to spectate IM Kentucky...My son will be competing!

Hey fellow BTers... When we get closer to the event, maybe we can set up a time/place to meet for a one loop ride on Saturday? I will be taking it very easy...just want to get familiar with the course. I hope to swim too. Sunday I will most likely fit in a run at some point.

What do you think?

Mine is driven by my desire to guarantee registration. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to spectate as I know quite a few people - BTers and non-BTers - who are racing. BUT, I'd much rather stay at home, stick to my training schedule, save a little money, etc. The timing is just a little bad. Still not sure if I will actually make it up...

I've never spectated an IM, so I suppose it would be good for me too.
