first trithlone done and in the race report

Veteran  156   WATERTOWN, WISCONSIN |  Subject: first trithlone done and in the race reportI did it... first triathlon yesterday. I ended up 103/293 women. 19/57 in my age group. Not bad for the first one I guess. My swimming experience was HORRIBLE. It was windy and choppy and I ended up having to do the backstroke the whole time as I couldn't catch my breath doing the crawl. I made it out of the water in one piece 36/57 in my age group... not so good, but alive. transition went okay and I hopped on the bike. right after the mile long hill at the beginning of the bike leg I got stung by a bee... and I'm allergic. Luckily the sting was on a lower extremity so my reaction was minimal. I hopped off the bike feeling pretty good 12/57 in my age group. transition went okay and it was off to the run. I didn't push myself hard enough on the run and ended up 30/57 in my age group. overall I guess not bad for the first race. I guess it gives me some training goals for the winter. |

I couged and sputtered for most of it. When I went onto my back I had waves splash over my head. I mostly sidestroked....... and I am so glad I didn't have to stop after taking in water a few times. |

I have my first tri this weekend, and it's an ocean swim, which everyone has said is tough. What were the distances of each leg of the event? Mine is 750meter swim, 20k bike, and 5k run. Again, great job. And train like crazy this winter!!! |

My swim was only 12:23 (felt like an eternity), the bike was 1:23! and the run 32:54. I feel so great just for finishing it! I thought my husband would be worrying about me on the swim... but no he had his best swim ever and wasn't even thinking it was bad! Tough race for your first! You did great, too! |
