AZchica - 2007-06-28 10:27 AM I have a black and blue bike.  I don't know which team I should be on.  I guess I'm bi...

hehe - Im setting up a spreadsheet and will assign the teams at random... but if anyone does have preferences or wants to recruit some mates for a team Im all for it.

At this stage Im thinking about a maximum of 5 to a team (unless half of BT joins then up to 9 to fit with the tour cycling teams) so its easy to inspire and keep in touch with your team mates and doesnt end up being a HUGE job for anyone to be a team leader.

NB: I have already noted down the people that want to be Black and Gold!!!

This is awesome ... I'd like to join in too ... sooo need to get my bike mileage going

As opposed to coming up with individual team names, do we want to adopt some of our favourite TDF Pro Teams ? That way we get more of a TDF feel for the challenge ?

Not sure if this complicates the simple % that is used in most challenges but was wondering if we want to invent a points system to track Team Leadership ? For eg.:

- Max weightage to rider that meets goal (100%) - say 10 pts
(should balance out potential bonus points that can be gained by the elite riders )
- 500' Net Elevation Gain - 1 pt
- 50 miles covered in stage/workout - 1 pt
- 15 mph av. pace on ride - 1pt (every 5 mph increment gets an additional pt)

Its very easily possible to go crazy with this ... we can get individual on this or just stay with the team concept and have Yellow (Overall Leader) , Green (Sprinter?) , Polka-dot (Climbing?) Jersey handed out every week !

Can you tell I'm excited

Saw your post in tri talk. I'm newish and even slower than I am new. But I'm consistent... usually.  I'm in.

Too bad about the pedal boats.

I'd like to take part in this as cycling is my main focus in my training for July/August. I'm horrible at checking threads though, so could you please PM me once I am assigned to a team so I can set the team thread as my home page, lol.

I have 10 scheduled bike rides (including 1 sprint race) in the time frame provided.

I will be doing 15 bike sessions between July 7th and the 29th. I can't wait to see what team I'm on.

Well since the rides have to be over 15 minutes it rules out my commute, so ....

I would like to be in for 12 stages.  Might have to take some of them off-road just for fun

I admit, I am a CSC fan although I could enjoy being on Credit Agricole

Great minds think alike!!! Yes Ive thought some of these ideas but not the execution... Im in the process of putting together tracking spreadsheets that will include more than just the basic goal and % achieved... but this will be the basis for team glory (so people can chose how much information to report) ... there are plenty of other options....

Im hoping to include, distance (if tracked), time, type of sessions (based on TT, mountain and flat) but your ideas sound great as additional extras.. I dont want to make it too much work for anyone though...

On the weekly challenge update I will be asking for team leaders to point out any major achievements and good news stories from the team so I can do the update and tie it all in with the tour, the jerseys, the triumphs etc Im happy to 'formalise' it if there is an easy way.

Ive just woken up so let me have a look at the suggestions and come back to you... Im all for going crazy as long as it makes sense and isnt too much work for the team leaders

I'm in.......10 rides in that timeframe.

One of my rides will be a 204 mile one day ride for the "Group Health Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic" on July 14th. YeeHaw!

My bike is silver/black w/ yellow trimmings. I wear a lot of yellow! (helmet, jersey, etc.) Yellow makes me the leader.....right?

Update:

If there does end up being a 'newbie team' I'd like to be on it, but my main request is to be teammates with TriAya, she is my rockstar.
