I just began training this month after watching my wife complete her first sprint tri last November. I plan to participate in my first mini-sprint tri in Pril and regular sprints in June and July.
My swimming is doing great with an average time for 1000m of 19:55. Biking has only been in the gym on stationary and will be going on the road starting this weekend. my downfall is running. I am currently up to only 3/4 mile constant run and walking the rest of the mile. I plan to up my schedule to 3 days a week to help move me up.
I have shed 13lbs in three weeks and I feel great when I go to work after the gym. I am even starting to miss training on off days.
I look forward to talking with and hearing from everyone as I progress.

Welcom to the site! I've been tri-ing for a few months and just found the site a few weeks ago. I wish I had your swim time! Mine is pretty sad, but it's getting better. Go easy on the run - it will come. Just be careful on pushing too much too soon - injury is the biggest impediment to tri-ing and feeling good about yourself.

thanks for the encouragement guys...
Yeah, I am pleased with the seim time. Luckily that comes from past competetive experience, having two kids that I think are half frog, and living in Florida.
I am not discouraged by my run. I actually expected worse, so what I have done so far is actually an achievement for me. I am taking that really slow and only need to be at 1.5miles by 4/15/04 for my first mini sprint.
Thanks again.

Hey woogy - with swim and bike under control, the running will come. It's coming back pretty well for me. Do walk run intervals and slowly add the run minutes. Soon you will find yourself able to recover while still running by slowing down the pace. Biggest danger in pushing too early is injury - that sets you back way more than taking more time to train smart.
