Subject: RE: Orthotics w/ support shoe or neutral shoe?? The way it was explained to me is that custom orthotics correct to get you as close to neutral as possible. If you add a stabilizing shoe that is also correcting, that creates problems. Bottom line of course, if you are already running in a motion correction shoe with orthotics and you aren't having any problems I'd stick with it. But if you're switiching to an orthotic for the first time, I'd go with a neautral shoe. I had a bogus gait analysis in April of 2006 and not long after I developed achilles tendonitis and some bursitis in my hip that is still giving me problems. I've spent $1000's on treatment. The right shoes are critical if you have biomechanical issues. I switched to an appropriate motion correction shoe and I'm getting better. I got the orthotics because I had 3 pairs of expensive neutral shoes and I didn't want to use them to kick around town. So now I alternate between neutral shoes with orthotics and the MC shoes. |
