How do I put my number on after the swim? I'll be wearing a singlet in the water and I assume I don't swim with the number on. Or do I?

No question is a dumb one!

You put the number in either Transition 1 ( swim to bike ) or Transition 2 ( bike to run ).

You'll keep the number on a 'race belt' ( elastic strap that you pin/attach the number too before the race ). You put on the race belt in one of your transitions.

Some races want you to wear it on the bike, some don't require you to, and you just put it on for the run. Depends on your race, read the guidelines for the race, or ask someone else that is doing it.

Race belt will be about $5 or so, and you re-use it for every race you do. Ask at your local running store or bike/tri shop. Or order online if you don't have a good shop close by.

As Coredump said get a race belt, if you can not find one get a piece of elastic and tie a knot in it and pin your number to it.

Some races require you to have your number on your back for the bike and the front for the run.

the belt allows you just to pull your number around from the back to the front with out needing to un pin.

Good luck with your race.

Here is a picture of a race number belt:

You leave it at the transition area with your number on it. Then you quickly put the belt around your waist and snap it on (either in T1 or T2)!
