Subject: RE: G'day Hey thanks for saying hey ! The Croc hunter zoo is only about 45 minutes from where I am. Hope you get to see it some day, I was there two weeks ago. Well on my way, suppose so. Just trying to keep fit, and as for the people, you no wrong.
I read this, and think it sums a few things up
I like many of you never dreamed that I would be one of those people who get immense enjoyment out of pushing my body to the absolute limit of physical endurance. The question I keep asking myself is why? To this day I am unable to answer this simple question. We all have our own reasons for taking up the sport of Triathlon, each with their own ambitions. These range from simply finishing your first Triathlon to reaching the ultimate in the sport, the Hawaiian Ironman. In this world of ours the vast majority will never reach Hawaii. However, does this really matter? I honestly believe that to be a winner in Triathlon all you need to do is try your hardest and reach the goals you have set for yourself. If you achieve this then you have won. I still marvel at those people who we all call the back markers, for they are the heart and soul of Triathlon. They are the people that keep the sport going and allow those of us who aim for higher goals to achieve our dreams. I get satisfaction from standing at the finish line to cheer and encourage all behind me to push themselves to their own limits. If you have never stayed at the finish line and cheered the back markers across the line then you have missed the opportunity to help them achieve their best. It is the camaraderie between competitors that sets Triathlon apart from most other sports . We know our own limits and we accept them without any regrets and then we promptly tell ourselves that I have tried my best and that’s all I can do.
