Sunny
Total Time = 2h 26m 58s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 50-54
Age Group Rank = 19/19
Pre-race routine:

A can of Slim-Fast and a mug of black coffee.
Event warmup:

Some stretching and easy 200 yd swim
Swim
  • 40m
  • 1091 yards
  • 03m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

First open water swim. Hard to judge speed & distance. Was too conservative during the first half of the swim, but was worried about going anaerobic. Felt good coming out of the water.
What would you do differently?:

Pace myself better during the first half of the race. I had prepared well, but was too conservative.
Transition 1
  • 02m
Comments:

Forgot my race belt & number - fortunately nobody noticed and I put it on during T2.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 1h 00m
  • 13.1 miles
  • 13.10 mile/hr
Comments:

My old Schwinn ten-speed is too heavy and not up to the task
What would you do differently?:

Get a new bike (Cervelo or Trek)
Transition 2
  • 02m
Comments:

Had rouble finding open spot to rack my bike (someone had taken my assigned spot) - lost a lot of time.
What would you do differently?:

Look for the first open spot to rack my bike
Run
  • 45m
  • 3.1 miles
  • 14m 31s  min/mile
Comments:

Legs felt awful - had to walk too much
What would you do differently?:

Work on bricks and practice running more on beach.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around

What limited your ability to perform faster:

1. My old bike. 2. Lack of conditioning for the run.

Event comments:

A great event. Looking forward to next year!
