Subject: RE: OWS Denver Area Chatfield Gravel Pond is available Monday and Wed evenings and Sat mornings. You have to be a member of COMSA or a local tri club and you have to pay to enter the park. You can also swim at the swim beach on the main reservoir, which would only require paying the $6 to enter the park. Or you can ride your bike in for free. Swim beach is ok. There are buoys outside the general swim area. In general, the water is a bit murky because of all of the boat traffic. Gravel Pond is awesome though...
Bear Creek Lake Park (c-470 and Morrison Rd ) has an OWS area I believe on Big Soda Lake. Just have to pay a park entrance fee. I hear it's a nice beach, water is chilly, clean.
Those are your closest options. You can also drive to Aurora Reservoir, pay the entrance fee, and swim in their OWS area. It is on Quincy Rd, east of C-470 a few miles. Clean water. Just swam there last night...
Good luck... |
