It looks like there is no more Granite Ledges Tri; Big Lake Half marathon and Timberman weekend look pretty much the same; Mooseman is one weekend in June with both a half IM and something kinda like an oly (actually looks like it is exactly half of the half IM)

Is anyone looking at these races or is it too early?

I am soooo bummed about Granite Ledges.  After doing it this year I was hooked, only to find out it's gone     I'm going to do the new half on June 4th, but wasn't looking to do another half, just  a couple olympics and a couple sprints.  Now I need to refigure.

WHAT???

I haven't been planning my full 2005 season yet, and didn't look at their next year schedule.

NO MORE GRANITE LEDGES? So if I wanna make peace with the hill on mile 5, I only can do it at the Half? Twice? He he he he he. Bring it, Keith Jordan!

Ellen....two Halfs now. No choice.

I need to sleep on this. For about 2 months.......

I'm not really sure how much my old, aching, falling-apart body can take!

Get a grip woman...you can do it!

That June 4th 1/2 IM sounds like a good tune up for Lake Placid to follow in 7 weeks.  I guess I do need to start thinking about some sort of schedule for next year too.

I'm planning on doing the New England Half Iron.  I will assess my training in December and sign-up before Christmas if I'm on track.  I hope it doesn't fill up before that.

I was afraid I was only going to get that hill once next year! I am signing up in a couple of weeks so I am committed, before my wife realizes what I am getting us into. I think 2 1/2s and 2 olys and an almost 2 year old should keep me busy all summer.

Hmmm... I'm planning on doing my 1st 1/2 Mary next year... Maybe I can make it Big Lake.

Has anyone run it before and, if so, how does the terrain (read "hills") look?

Thanks,
Rob

You can still make peace with the hill in something shorter then 1/2 iron.  They also have 1/4 iron that same weekend on the same course.  I guess if he was going to have another race on Newfound Lake he probably had to forgo the September date.

Mountainbreeze-
I have never run Big Lake, but the area is mountain country, so I would plan on lots of up and down.

I have run Big Lake. The first 6 miles are mostly uphill, with some pretty good hills, then you turn down toward the lake and run along it until the end with just some slight rolling hills. It was a lot of fun. Stay until the end and they were giving tons of food away there was so much.

Thanks for the info on the half marathon!
Does this series of races sell out before the first of the year? Yikes! I thought the I would have more time to ponder it.

EXCUSE ME WHILE I HAVE A FIT!!!!!

Did I miss something? How did it slip? KJ discontinuted the Mooseman offroad? No! Nooooooo! Nooooooooo!

How can you keep the name of the event "Mooseman Festival"?? Isn't that like naming successive family dogs the same name?

Yeah, they kept the Mooseman name but changed the date, location and races. Sorry that you're bummed.

Keith Jordan had some issues with the pond and water conditions at Waterville Valley, which necessitated the change of venue for the Mooseman.  Here's the link to it at the Timberman forum:

Maybe it should be "Son of Mooseman"??

Actually I really didn't mind the water last year, maybe it was worse for the last group of swimmers, once the weeds really got stirred up!

Oh by the way May, that "Excuse Me While I Have A Fit" statement just seems to fit with your avatar!  That picture is so cute....I always have the urge to just pinch your cheek!
