Good luck to your son. My family will be there too. They will be in the yellow "Operation Go The Distance" shirts. Have you or your son done the race before?

neither of us have done this race before.  William was really hoping to do Wilmington in September but it closed out too quickly.  This will be his only tri of the season, which is fine because it is a pool swim.  I think he still has some practicing to do before trying an open water swim

Hillsborough is a fun race with a little challenge on the bike ride. It is not terrible but it is not flat either. You have to climb up a steady incline back to the road that runs in front of transition. The run is pretty open so it gets hot pretty quick. It is a two-loop deal with a short sharp incline right out of transition and a long, steady incline to the turn around. The runs is relatively flat though. It will be a great race for him to do this year. The SportsPlex is an awesome facility.

that's nice to know about the path out of transition.  we will make sure he has the bike in low gears.  He rode the middle route in Davidson for the Collier Lilly Ride 4 Life back in June, so I hope the hills won't totally kill him.

Out of T-1, it is not that steep but there is an incline once you get on the main road and then once your turn left, it is a long generally downhill section. The steep part is out of T2 but it is very short. Still it will keep you honest. I'm sure he'll be fine on the bike. It is mostly rolling but it is not as flat as I thought it would be and certainly not as flat as Kinston.

Way to go William Archie on completing his first race with adults. I think best I can tell he finished third overall in his age group! Not bad for the first one!!

How about you other BT'ers, how did you do?
