Lake Worth Chamber of Commerce
82F / 28C
Sunny
Total Time = 1h 16m 34s
Overall Rank = 8/43
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 2/
Pre-race routine:

Get kids set up with their volunteer stuff, potty stops, pick up packet, get transition area set up.
Event warmup:

Stretching, VERY little swim just to warm up. No jogging because of calf problem.
Swim
  • 13m 27s
  • 440 yards
  • 03m 04s / 100 yards
Comments:

VERY choppy and wavy. Difficult to sight and went way off course several times. Actually got a little disoriented and a little seasick it was so rough. One of the toughest swims I've been in.
What would you do differently?:

Better job of sighting.
Transition 1
  • 00m 50s
What would you do differently?:

I'm pretty happy with transitions.
Bike
  • 37m 48s
  • 12.5 miles
  • 19.84 mile/hr
Comments:

Did much better than I expected. Could feel the calf the whole time but didn't seem to slow me down too much.
What would you do differently?:

I was happy with anything I could get.
Transition 2
  • 00m 57s
Comments:

Very happy with the transitions. Just started competing completely sockless last race and it seems to be okay so far.
Run
  • 23m 32s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

Calf pain didn't slow me down as much as I thought it would. The hill of the bridge was a killer though.
What would you do differently?:

Couldn't really push it much. Couldn't really push off hard with my left leg.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking around, little stretching, rehydrating.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Injured calf last week after another triathlon. Still very tight and painful with running.

Event comments:

This race was supposed to be held in the beginning of September but was postponed due to the hurricanes. It was really sad to see the big Lake Worth Pier broken in 3 pieces over the ocean. It took a huge hit during the storms.

Thanks guys.  No, it's not supposed to be my last race.  I'm scheduled to do a 1/2 marathon on Halloween and a 1/2 IM on November 21.  Training is almost halted right now, so everything's a little bit up in the air.

Congratulations! It's tough to battle with an injury during a race. Your run times were still pretty good (you would have outrun me!).

Is your Nov. 21 Half IM, the Miami Man?

Yes, it is.  I have a lot of friends doing it and if I think I can finish it without hurting myself, I'm definitely in.  Are you going?

Most likely...I have two days left to decide! Registration closes on Oct. 19.

I'm not fully recovered from an injury, so I'm still unsure. My bike and I are traveling to Miami from Nov 19 to Dec 1 anyways.
