My Aunt just hooked me up with a place at the Wilderness lodge that is big enough for my entire family.  It's a short mile walk to the start from there.

I will be racing this one again.  It was very well run and organized last year. The parking/bus situation is a pain post race, but not terrible. I ended up riding my bike back to my truck (another 2-3 miles) post race.

Anyone have any luck with condos yet and are looking for others to go in with them? My wife and I are going to be looking very shortly for somewhere to stay if we cant come up with a place to go in with. Looking off the website for florida you can get a cabin and the wilderness resort for $269 per night. Anyone with suggestions or any kind of information????

 Thanks in advance.

Still mulling over a bunch of different training plans.  I plan on starting right after the new year.  Do you know what plan you're going with yet?  Have you done it before?  Just looking for more ideas.  Hopefully we can keep this thread going until the race so we can see where everyone is at.  Hopes, fears, complaints, pains, etc.  Talk to you soon,  Chris

I'm doing a training plan that my coach gave me.  I'm building a base right now, but will start the heavy duty training starting the first of the year.  I'm a really bad runner in fact I may have to walk most of the 1/2 marathon, so my plan is to get faster in my swim and bike.  I'm going to join a masters' swim team and do lots of group rides to help push me past my comfort zone.  I'm very excited yet very nervous.  I think about Florida every day and sometimes I'm worried that I don't have enough time to train, and other days I can't wait to cross the finish line.

Ok, found condo that will work - problem was the check in date. Wanted to check in on Fri the 16th and most are Sat. or Sun.

Can get a full 2 bedroom (2 seperate suites or lockout) with seperate bathrooms and a pullout couch. Seperate living areas and 1500 total sq. feet. It is in Kissimmee, less than 5 miles from park gate. It will be for the whole week if you would like to use it. I will use 16, 17, 18 and leave on the 19th. It is through a timeshare company that sells excess inventory by the week. I could not trade for a Fri. check in so it is a little more but still cheap for this type of unit. It will cost me about $650 and am looking to split it with another individual, couple or maybe family with 1 child.

Let me know if interested. I would look to book ASAP and will have to be paid upfront.

Email louis (at) exitrealtysuncoast (dot) com with any questions.

I ended up getting a timeshare.  It's free so I'm going to have to deal with any race day logistics. I'm just going to have to be sure to get there early enough so I won't  have to rush. Check out the link, it'd be nice to meet up with everyone http://www.wyndhambonnetcreek.com/

That is a nice place and very close. It is the only non-disney timeshare inside park grounds.

Me and the son-in-law are signed up for this, our 1st. We have reserved one of the Wilderness cabins for me, my wife, my daughter, my s-i-l, and the 2 grand youngins. It should make for a real restful night before the race.

After using the trinewbies 1/2 im training schedule for two oly's and deciding we would be sorely undertrained if we used it for this, we have concocked our own

For the last Disney Olympic I stayed with my wife, 3 year old, 2 year old, 9 month old, and my Mom.  We have two rooms this time.  We had a blast but one trip like that is enough.  It did motivate me to get out of the room really early. Looking forward to meeting up with some BT'ers to put faces with names.

I am in as of last week. My 3rd consecutive year. Love it but be ready for the heat as the run has been very hot.

As for location, the Cabins are the best. Can take inside train to start and my family went back and forth during day. Get a golf cart and you can be all over the place in seconds.

AAHHH Heat!!! I don't know if I am going to be ready for the heat.  I'm going to arrive in Orlando on Wednesday to try and acclimate myself to the heat, I hope it works.  Last year I went to Texas to do a triathlon and the heat was horrible, and we don't get any heat like that in San Diego.  I may have to look into do yoga in a heated room to get some "heat training" in.

Hi all! I was wondering if anyone in the area would want to pre-ride the course with me in April. I'm tentateively looking at the 26th. I travel a lot for work and can double up for this trip: work and pleasure. I'll just stay the weekend.  It's an idea. This is my first HIM and I'm rather nervous!

Also, if anyone could recommend a good LBS in that area, I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

It just doesn't seem like May will get here soon enough January is taking too long.  How is everyones training going?  For me, this is the first time i've trained according to a BT Training Plan and it is awesome so far.  I love having my workouts planned out for me.  It also has shown me that I was not training nearly enough last year.  This will be my first full year so I'm excited to see what the results will be.

I read that the water is usually to warm for wetsuits, but have you ever seen anyone wear a wetsuit even if it was not allowed.  I know USAT says that after a certain temperature wetsuits are not allowed, but what if you are not trying to place in your AG.  The reason I ask is I'm trying to convince my dad who is 55 to do the race with me.  He is a good biker and runner just not a strong swimmer.  We would be in the same wave, if they keep it the same as last year (I'm with the CAF group) and last year they were in the same wave as my dad would be in this year.  If I could tell him that he could wear a wetsuit that would give him all the more reason to do it. Does anyone know if you can still wear a wetsuit even if the temperature is to warm?  HELP!!!!

You risk dehydration with a wetsuit and too warm temps/water.  I'm always cold in the water and I worked a sweat last year it was that warm!

I agree with you papson... the BT plan has been awesome! Everything is planned, structured, perfect! It's testing me, but it's not unmanageble or intimidating. I like that. I'm doing the 20 week beginner. I got a late start to my first tri season last year due to a lingering injury. Only got to do 2 sprints and 2 half marathons. Loved it though.

I jumped right in for the HIM as my husband and I have decided to try for kids this year. The HIM is my personal goal to reach before having kids. Besides, it will get/keep me in shape so pregnancy is hopefully easier. And, it will be easier to return to the sport!

Well, good luck to you on your tri-activities and good luck to you and your husband on the other "activities".  My wife and I had our 3rd last year and she did a sprint tri less than 4 months after her delivery and she's working toward a couple of Oly's this year.  She's also finishing her last year of medical residency so her schedule wouldn't let her do the 70.3 with me.

How do you like Newport News?  My family and I will be up in Norfolk next weekend and I have a 3 hr ride planned with a friend, how is the weather up there?  We have a bunch of family up in Norfolk/Va Beach and hope to be stationed in that area at the end of this year, we both like it much better than Florida.  Again good luck.
