I am officially in! Woo Hoo! I think the wife is in for the Meek and Mighty as well! We're trying to come minus the 3 kids (more room in the van for our stuff). Actually, don't want to disrupt school so trying to get the in-laws down from PA to watch em. Looking forward to hooking up with the group!

Okay, so the schedule is as follows:

  • Saturday - Sprint Triathlon Event and Bike Check in for the Olympic
  • Sunday - Olympic Event with party afterwards (beer included)

What kind of BT event should we do?  G8rsax suggested having a tent somewhere after the finish for BT'rs to gather after the race or for families/friends to hang out during the race.  We've also discussed the notion of getting together on Friday or Saturday evenings.  What do you guys think, got any ideas?

I think the tent idea is great. I also think that the night before, or maybe 2 nights before, depending on how early people are getting to St. Pete, have a big dinner at restaurant nearby. I think we should all coordinate to maybe stay at the same hotel-  maybe a hotel would give us a discount for a large group of people?

I'm checking into the hotel situation. I'd like to get a block of rooms, and coordinate a discount. I'm looking for somewhere that has a banquet room so we could have a pre-race party Friday night, again depending on when everyone is getting into town.

Please let me know if anyone has suggestions!!

OK now that I'm on the "confirmed" list I guess I've got no excuses now! I really better get in gear now. Why did I suddenly get nervous about this entire thing? Oh well no laughing when I gag and weez my way through this thing. Is puking acceptable, because I have a feeling that will happen too>

I think I'm in. We stayed at the Hilton for Reebok this summer - decent hotel. We went to a great seafood place and I'll try to get the name of it...

hi folks...

i'd like to commit to the race...but i have a few variables here which i can't overlook. someone at one point had mentioned regional BT events? perhaps one in the new england area as well? i'm in MA and a trip to florida requires a bit of logistcs and budgeting.

the sprint listed in a previous entry seems more like a super sprint....that would be too ummm sprinty. haven't yet done an olympic, but don't mind commiting to one. it sort of leaves me no choice, huh?

anyone have a ballpark idea of what the trip might cost? perhaps someone who has done the research and the math who would be flying down and staying at a hotel?

I'll be there with Team in Training.  It's a great race.  I'm looking forward to returning there after missing it this year.

I'm in! The only real question at this point is if renting a bike is an option or if I should just ship mine down. Any opinions?

I understand that using my bike is ideal, but if renting is an option is there a chance for a very bad outcome?

Subject: Social Events Suggestions

What do you think we should do socially to get the BT'rs together pre and post race?  We've been kicking around ideas, meeting at a restaurant, a bar, etc. The sprints are on Saturday and the Oly on Sunday.  We can get together both evenings.  Afterwards, there's a party in the park (with Beer) so we should set up a tent or find a place to all meet afterwards for pics and beer.
