English muffin with PB and banana
Event warmup:

a couple of minutes of light jogging
Run
  • 2h 20m
  • 13.1 miles
  • 10m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

Generally, did my 30 minute run/3 minute walk routine I plan to do at my marathon in six weeks, though not exactly...tried to use the walks on one of the many hills. Disaster sruck between miles 8-10 when I developed major GI issues which took me of the course for at least 8-10 minutes total. Couldn't eat or drink for last 4 miles out of fear.
What would you do differently?:

Will try an all liquid breakfast next time.
Post race
Warm down:

hit port-o-let
Begged people for their water since they ran out.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

GI distress

Event comments:

Good food afterward which I couldnt eat. Not enough water or toilets.
Course was hard, even for experienced runners.

there's just no excuse for running out of water on the course.  As if running 13.1 miles isn't hard enough, now you have to do it without water.  Which would be fine if they told you there would not be any right from the start.  But noooooo.....

I hope you write to the RD, he needs to hear from the participants.

Sounds like you did great, in spite of it all.  Congrats to you!

I had never heard of running out of water at a race. eventually they did bring some back from some of the beginning stations at the race....I did fill out an evaluation for the race. They didnt have enough restroom facilities either. Maybe they were thinking they could get away with it if they didn't let us drink!
