good question what did happen to him??

Ok so I went to WI thinking I had this thing beat i was going to do so good this week cause I had been soooo good and I stayed totally OP. I felt smaller and this was the plateau busting week!!! WHATEVER I GAINED 0.8!!!!!!!!!!!! SmileyCentral.comDAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was really really pissed off at first but now i think, whatever ,I guess i will just keep going HOPING that someday I might lose weight again in my lifetime. It is very discouraging and I am trying not to get down on myself or over anaylze my journal and go back to see what I could have done wrong or better. I will just put on my big girl panties, which I have had to do like every stupid week, and keep going..
it sucks but I will do it.

My leader posted a quote today that I thought was good. " How does one become a butterfly? You want to fly so badly you're willing to give up being a caterpillar."

Well I want to fly pretty bad but my metamorphisis from a caterpillar to a butterfly is not coming along in a timely fashion.

OK and i am done, thanks for letting me vent! SmileyCentral.com

That's what we're hear for!  To listen and encourage.

fwiw,  I have experienced very similar things over the course of my weight losing attempts and ultimate successes.  When I got to life time, I went a long time with no losses and even minor gains -

but I was losing inches, my clothes were fitting better, and most importantly I was feeling better and better.

I do know how you are feeling, and can completely empathize

Stay the course - you are doing the right things - It will happen - unfortuantely these things seem to take longer than we like.

Thanks beth, I know it takes time but it has been 6 weeks and not even 5 pounds yet! Just frustrating. I mean when I started WW at 250 pounds I lost it so quickly, and now 58 pounds lighter I cannot lose 5, even though I am HEALTIER than ever, completely crazy to me but I am in it to win it so I just have to get over it and move on. It just seems like the more exercise I do the LESS weight I lose. But EVENTUALLY it will happen I just keep telling myself to play the game and eventually I will get a goal.
Still pisses me off though, LOL. Thanks again, J

It pissed me off every week too!  LOL

One of the things that's hard is the less you weigh, the slower it seems to come off.  I also think that our bodies go through an adjustment period to a new weight.  I don't know if that's true, but it seems to be the case for me anyway.

You will succeed!

Hang in there Jana!! It will happen. I lost 3.0 last week but if you look at my log, the previous 3 weeks I lost NOTHING, then gained, then lost like, .8 or something. Then all of a sudden all my hard work pays off and I'm down 3.

Drink LOTS of water and stay focused. The weight will come off.

Plus, you are MUCH healthier than where you started so that's something anyway!

Sorry you are feeling so frustrated Jana! You are doing great though! Try to remember all the other goals you are reaching! For example, YOU ARE STICKING WITH IT!!! I think that is reaching an exceptional goal in itself. You are taking time to improve yourself, to improve your health, and working through challenges. I see people in the hospital everyday who are struggling so much--largely as a result of unhealthy lifestyles--and they often feel depressed and helpless. You are taking the initiative and extending your life-- that is an accomplishment!!

{{{{{Jana}}}}} I know it's hard to keep hearing this, but hang in there! Tape yourself. I bet you're losing inches even if you're not losing pounds as fast as you'd like. I'm another one that loses a lot, then a little, or even a gain, then loses again. I dread the day when I get to my first plateau because in the past my mentality has always been "WTF! I may as well eat whatever," but I wasn't exercising then, nor did I ever tape myself.

Thanks so much for all your support! I have not taped myself since I gained like 15 more pounds so that should be interesting but it is a good idea, at least if I am CLOSE to the same as then I know something is working right!!?!?!?! I measure myself and see if that makes me feel better, even though you guys have already made me feel better.
Oh and Marcy your post was the last thing I saw before lunch and your line about eat less, mostly plants inspired my veggie wrap, so thanks LOL, it was yummmmmmy! Jana

I'll say it, too. Hang in there, Jana! The scale is sometimes our friend and sometime seems like a mortal enemy. I know I let myself get waaaaaaay too wrapped up in the numbers sometimes which only leads me down a path of falling off program. I'm definitely trying to adopt of the "it's a lifestyle, not a diet" mentality this time around. By focusing on the larger lifestyle picture, the little weekly blips of an individual WI lose the power in my brain.

FWIW, I'm fully expecting to maintain or possibly have a slight gain on Monday since I dropped nearly 4 pounds this week. That's typically been my M.O. in the past.

Thanks guys!!!

And, to make the week even better, my oldest son is coming home today.  His first break from college!

I'm really looking forward to seeing him.

Only bad thing is I'm headed to San Fran on Sunday and won't be back until Thursday so I will miss most of his visit.

Okay, so I've been missing in action on this thread for a bit because I am taking a time out from the WW thing, and just counting calories and macronutrients, instead.  But, I really like chatting with you gals, so hopefully I can stay (pretty please, whine).

So, my weight today is 199.2, which is 20.2 below my initial WW weight... hmmm, maybe I should have had a formal WI because I would have received another gold star.  Another pound and I could claim 10%... hmmm, maybe when I get back in town I will have to go to a meeting, just because.

Anyhow, great work, everyone!!!  This thread just overflows with support and enthusiasm.

Maybe I should change the name of the thread - hmmmm, any ideas

I just love the fact that it's such a supportive environment, I like the challenges too - but for a different reason.

Nike + is this new gadget that connects to an Ipod Nano. It has an accelerometer that can be either put in specialized shoes or put on top of a shoe. It can record distance, calories, cheer you on, play certain songs when you need a boost....it's pretty neat technology (I love gadgets!)

On the Nike + webpage, you can challenge other users to various goals (like longest distance over a month, fastest 5k)

I picked one up when Paiva went out of business....got it for $15 :-) I'm going to calibrate it this weekend (my stride is too short to trust the pre-set stride). I love toys, especially athletic toys!

I've been jonesing for one of these, too. If my memory serves, which it often doesn't LOL, I think I remember seeing Laurie (klgray) post in her log recently about calibrating hers.

Thanks, Melissa and Beth - you are all stuck with me, now!

Have a great weekend, everyone. I fly to Milwaukee this afternoon - visit with family over the weekend, and then business for the remainder of the week.

Goals for the week:
* Write it - Bite it, or was it Nibble it, Scribble it, Beth??
* Get to the fitness center each day (looks as if the hotel has a really nice one)
