Pre-race routine:

Talked alot with my wifes parents and sister. Mr. Hail was video taping.
We were somewhat intimidated by all the triathletes.
Event warmup:

Just some light strenching
Swim
  • 09m 20s
  • 500 yards
  • 01m 52s / 100 yards
Comments:

Very difficult to get comfortable for the first 200 yards or so. A lot of water was coming into my mouth from other people splashing or just the movement of the water.
What would you do differently?:

Set expectations for a rocky start. Try to relax more
Transition 1
  • 00m
Bike
  • 52m 27s
  • 18.5 miles
  • 21.16 mile/hr
Comments:

First time ever to bike on a completely wet surface! Had to turn and corner really slow. It was fun being able to see, my wife Sarah, on the bike, despite that fact that she was competing in the women's tri.
What would you do differently?:

Push a little hard on flats and downhills. DRINK MORE.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Run
  • 23m 20s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

I was really fatigued after the bike. I slowed down a fair amount the last mile. I was passed by about 5 people in the last mile.
What would you do differently?:

Save a little energy on the bike for the run
Post race
Warm down:

A little strenching, but mainly waiting for Sarah to finish. Talking with Miranda and Mrs. Hail.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swim, and end of the run

Event comments:

Great race

Thanks for replying, tech_geezer and ropkins.

Strenching is a typo, but kind of describes my (unfortunate) attitude towards "streching"

Sounds good. I'll start using it too. I hate stretching.
