Thanks for the info Ben.  This maybe the incentive to get me to do Chisago's HIM this year.  I've been looking for one earlier in the year than Pigman and thought this might be a good fit.  I think Kelly might do it also so I really appreciate the tip on the discount price.

I haven't seen the email come through, but I was thinking of doing both High Cliff & Chisago. What a silly man I am considering I did my first Olympic in August. Oh well, now I have to figure out a way to tell my wife I am doing these events.

I have done the Chisago Sprint the last 2 years, so time to move up a division. I am glad to see they are stepping up with dry wick shirts this year.

I still can't make my mind up between Chisago and Spirit of Racine. $80 is a good price, but news of the roads down in the valley being repaved would mean more to me.

I thought I remember hearing that Racine is going to be a Tri-101 series stop this year...I guess that is good AND bad for MANY reasons

Not according to their website. I think they'd need to make that change before people start signing up.

Tri One-0-One seemed like it had a lot of failures last year.  From the changing of the bike route in Clearwater before the 1st race, and not having enough traffic control so that the Women's leader at Clearwater gets hit by a car that could have been stopped/directed should there have been somone manning that corner, to the complete cancellation of the last two events, Halifax & the series championship at The Woodlands.

Overall, it seems like there were a lot of bumps in the road for an organization that is trying to compete with IMNA

Actually I think the 101 series shutdown. I noticed that Slowtwitch removed their Tri 101 forum, and the Tri One O One website has been shutdown. I don't think anyone is doing the 101 distance right now unless the race was already there.

I sort of thought that tri 101 was gone as well. Either way I had never heard about Racine converting to that distance.

Ben, I thought you were talking about Racine needing a lot of changes, my mistake.

No worries...I think I actually heard it from the original broadcast of Racine...who knows how much truth anything holds these days though

Yep...I'll be there doing the sprint. I kinda got suckered into this one, but I hear it's a pretty good course. I grew up in Chisago and my family still lives there so it'll be fun to race at home.

Update on the bike course and run course for the Chisago HIM.  From the sounds of it, both courses will be a lot better than the last couple of years!!  Here is the e-mail I was sent:

"Chisago Lakes Half Ironman!

Some roads on the half ironman bike course were rough for the '06 and '07 events due to quick winter freezes then high spring and summer temps. Because of this we have created a new bike course that will eliminate any of these spots! Another change is a double-looped run course that will allow the entire course to stay in the neighborhoods of Chisago where there is ample shade, flat roads and friendly neighborhoods.

Prizes & Goodies!
Prize money for the top 5 female and male winners will be determined and posted on our website in early 2008. We will also have awards to the top 3 in each age group in 5 year increments. Of course, don't forget the Swedish pancakes and this year we will have Scandinavian Ice Cream and cookies!"

Wow, that's fantastic news! I think this all but seals the deal for me. I still need to check a few things out, but I should be back at Chisago Lake in'08.
