right now I've got 2 games going, posting on BT and watching the IMFL finishers' .. I love this internet .. thank you al gore

Two and a half hours for me.  The only time I ever watch t.v. or movies is when I'm on the trainer so that's how I get through.

Three hours and change on the BSLT Computrainer course.

I have the TV going with subtitles, and I'm listening to my IPOD, and I have the spinscan screen up for the Computrainer so I can shift my focus periodically and keep from gnawing through my bar tape...

Haha...you sure have a lot of stuff going on during your rides. Sounds good .

I'd always ride outside in the cold and rain than do long trainer rides. I did buy the IMLP spinnervals which is just shy of 3 hours I plan to do a time or two this winter.

I tend to do intense intervals on the trainer and those tend to be 90 minutes or less but are tough. I'm a strange cyclist in that I get higher power numbers on the trainer than outside...see if that holds up this winter.

I've only done 30 minutes thus far, but I have 5 hours planned for this winter since I'm training for a century. My GF is going to bring her bike and trainer over to my house so that we can do these long ones together and have someone to keep us going.

Heh... whatever it takes to get it done. I probably spend 80% of my time looking at a bar graph on the spinscan to get my pedal stroke lined out. The TV/music are more for the occasional break than for passing time overall...

I get a much better workout on the Computrainer than I would just riding the same flat stretch of road. And honestly, the day to day flights out to wrecks on the highways where I ride have me a little creeped out. I can be standing on the highway as we're cuting someone out of a car and I know the piece of road from riding my bike through there. Creepy.

3 hours solo, 4 hrs during a cycling class "marathon fund raiser" (Everyone else was part of a team, I was a team of one.) I just get into a rhythm and go.

My IPOD is very important to help keep me focused and help maintain the tempo and I have variation I throw in with the music (sprints, breaks, more resistance, and rest). I have built 8 or so playlists of 2 hours or more to help. I also find I am able to do alot of visualization during those rides and it helps practice staying focused during a long ride of a HIM or IM.

Of course I do most of my milage on my trainer year round, cause I wait till the kids go to bed and don't ride in the dark.

Shelly123, vbtrigirl, jdalley and I did several rides in the 2.5-3.0 hr range last winter.  I would NOT have been able to do it without them there.  We watched Spinervals and talked a lot.

Since we were in a public area in the gym in vbtrigirl's apartment complex, we answered a lot of interesting questions from the locals.

It's funny to see how people react when they see you spinning when they come in for their workout... and when they leave... and again on their way to their car once they've cleaned up and are on their way out for lunch.... "holy crap, they're STILL IN THERE."

My manager at my old LBS did a ride somewhere in the 12-hour range one snowy day.  Sheesh.

I think just over an hour, maybe 1 hour 15 minutes. I'm usually dying to get off before an hour is up and usually only on there for 50 minutes.

1 1/2 hours...and I can't imagine going longer than that...but I'm sure I will this winter...

I've pretty much stuck to doing Spinervals or I'll watch TV to pass the time.

I made it through 2.5 hours last winter, but thought I was going to die when it was all done.  Made it through MOST of Braveheart.

Slight hi-jack:  It drives my dog crazy when she watches me on the trainer.  She will sit in front of me and bark non-stop.  Yeah, she's not the brightest crayon in the box, but I love her anyway.

I've done 6 hours on my Computrainer a couple times. It's really not that bad if you have a few good movies. In fact, it's one of the few times I find the time to watch movies (aside from the occasional international flight to Asia).

Just set my personal longest trainer ride of two hours straight yesterday. It actually was not that bad. Watched one of the mountian stages of the 2001 TDF from WCP. Had to laugh at some of Paul Sherwin's comments about Ulrich and Armstrong.

Hope to keep pushing the limit up on the time but keep it "quality" time. I unfortunately do not have a power meter but I averaged 150 HR for the 2 hours and spiked it up a little here and there. Definately good training.

Love this thread as it motivates me to push out to new personal bests!

My longest trainer ride is 2 hours.

I'm ALWAYS dying to get off, but what the heck does that have to do with training???

4 hours on the CT. I actually don't mind being on the trainer except for the taint thing others have mentioned. I get the iShuffle going and go head-to-head with Metal Man, who is usually pacing out one of my own past performances. I think the CT makes ALL the difference.

2 hours and 40 minutes. Watching football seems to be my ticket to a prolonged trainer session. It holds my interest better than anything else. I know that if I go in from the garage my chances of watching a college game that means nothing to anyone in my house is not going to happen. The garage and the TV out there is my domain!

Back in my cycling days I did around 4 hours or so.  Most recent history I made it to 3 two winters ago.

DVD's and video games ......... best way to make it through long trainer days.

I love riding my bike. Just not on the trainer.

I hate the trainer so much that even when I am trying to make it an hour, I usually only make it 50 minutes and then quit.

I am not sure if this is a hijack, but it is related: for those that do not watch Spinervals or some training video, do you ride mindlessly or have a workout you are moving through?

I don't do well with someone on TV telling me what to do (okay, to be honest I don't do well with having people tell me what to do period ...... .......) so all my workouts are my own.  But I also would ride for the first 3 months of the season indoors averaging close to 1500 miles on the trainer back in my road racing days.  Not anymore .....

There are a lot of differernt trainer workouts out there.  I've made a few up over the years that work specific things and work well for me.

I have specific workouts that I do. So I usually go through the workout which I have written down and then I play a music DVD on the TV or laptop.

I'm lucky that it rarely snows here and there aren't a lot of days that I have to ride inside, so I don't do many workouts on the trainer.

Last year, I went to a spin class where we brought our trainers once a week, so that helped keep me motivated too. It's easier to do it with other people around.

A couple 5 hour and a 6 hour session as my long ride before IMAZ.  The Local YMCA let me use a room to bring my bike and trainer and other's from the club hopped in and out joining me while we watch Ironman DVD's.

In hindsight I don't think it was a very good use of my time.  I was still crushed by the wind in AZ.  This winter every trainer ride has a purpose and a goal for the session.  This makes the time go faster but also more grueling in some cases.
