The true measure of a hard-core cyclist! "How long can you go on the trainer?"

My longest is just over 1:30 hours but I've got some good ones planned ahead

5 HOURS?!?!?! That's freak'en impressive!

My longest has been 1.5 hours, but a couple longer ones planned for the winter.  I watch TV, mostly sports or sometimes DVDs.  I don't look at the clock.  That is a recipe for disaster.

To quote the immortal Bugs Bunny: "But, of course, you know this means war!"

Now the gauntlet is down and I will have to pull some extra long sessions really soon and get back to you all

i did 2 or 2.5 last winter. i seem to alternate reading with music. reading really helps, but it's more for warmups, "flats" and cool downs.

so far 2 hours, that will soon change though...

audio books are starting to seem like a good way to pass the time quickly. Make sure the trainer faces a window!

2 hours.  Once watching Spinervals and once watching CARS.  The last 30 minutes while watching CARS seemed to drag on.

Finally got a trainer but don't have it set up yet. I've done just over an hour on the rollers though. Do you get extra credit for having to pay attention?

6 hours getting for a race earlier this year. Now, I can't stand 10 minutes on it. I'm not sure if that's good or bad.

1:30 here...watched the 05 Kona video...twice.  Gawd it sucked.  I hate the trainer.  It ranks rate up there with running in place (not on a treadie, just running in place)

I bet you could have added an extra MPH or two on that trainer ride with a more aero wheel setup.

I just got rollers, and i'm using them for the first time and I seem to get numb nuts everytime I ride on them, but never have that problem out on the road with the exact same set up? anyone else have that problem?

Oh so far the longest 30mins (just trying to get used to riding the rollers)

about an hour, but it seemed like 3 hours.   I'd rather freeze my arse off in the rain or cold than ride a trainer for more than an hour, though.

One of my goals for this off season will be to make it all the way through the HAVE MERCY spinerval which is a 2 hour compliation of some of the hardest interval work from other spinervals.  Right now, the thighs are quivering after about 20-25 mintues.

DerekL - 2007-11-03 1:54 PM Hour and a half.  That's my taint's breaking point.

Having gone riding in the cold I've learned to like the trainer, and it's generally not bad if I'm watching a movie or a Spinervals DVD, but I agree that the turning point isn't the boredom, it's numbness and discomfort in the taint region. It seems that I can ride for a longer period of time on the road without taint issues than on a trainer. I'm thinking I may schedule regular breaks and go do squats or some other leg exercise, then hop back on the bike. Doing this, I could see getting to 3 hours. My longest so far is only 1 hour.

1 hour - - I think I could go longer with a tv. Just listening to my iPod and having the dog sit in front of me and staring at me like I'm crazy made the ride a little tough....

Three hours and change on the BSLT Computrainer course.

I have the TV going with subtitles, and I'm listening to my IPOD, and I have the spinscan screen up for the Computrainer so I can shift my focus periodically and keep from gnawing through my bar tape...
