I just saw this - http://dallas.craigslist.org/bik/478728172.html
on Craig's List. The only bike shop I can think of would be XL Cycling at Independence and Legacy. Can anyone else think of one or know of another?

I wouldn't really call where they are "upscale".  I doubt it.

Of the 5 in the area that I know - RBM, Plano Cycling and Fitness, Cycling Spectrum, Performance Bike & XL Cycling; XL Cycling is the one that never seems to have customers in it or that people haven't heard of. And therefore, would be on my 'list' for most likely to be sold/closed.

Wow, that looks like a great investment ... provided the figures are not made up.  That is a relatively low investment sum for what seems to be a good business -- and pleasure -- opportunity.  Too bad it's so hot in Texas!

It's gotta be the one at Legacy and Independence where the PBA group rides leave from. Not sure of the name.

The one at Independence and Legacy is XL Cycle.  I'll bet it is this one because all of the PBA rides that I know of start there.  All the rides I know of either start there or one of the RBM locations.  And I can assure you RBM is not for sale.  The other possibility would be Wheels in Motion, except that WIM is in Richardson. I think WIM was recently sold and with all the changes, I think they lost their Orbea line (but they still have some bikes).  At least the last time I talked to the Orbea folks up in Arkansas that was the case.  They may have gotten things worked out.

The rumor was true, Bruce, Owner of XL Cycle is closing his doors. We will miss him dearly. Hopefully he will still come out and help out with the Novice ride from time to time as he ventures off to new waters January 1st, 2008.

Bruce is going to start blowing out his inventory starting Monday. He has offered the PBA first choice at his merchandise on Saturday. I was in there today and picked up $300 worth of cool stuff.

He has a nice time trial bike that he said he would really wheel and deal on. Ask Bruce for details. Also he has I think three new blackburn trainers, each of different levels, one of each. Helmets, shoes, Jerseys, tubes, tires, bikes, all must go. I picked up a pair of new winter gloves, head light, tail light, tubes, tires, sweat band, blinky lights, etc.

Get there Saturday for the best stuff.
