Who is doing IM Wisconsin??

Maybe we can get a little support group going.. This will be my first shot at an IM, i've been doing Tri's about 5 year, last year i did my first 1/2 and i will be doing my first marathon in Nov of 2004 (this sunday 11/21/04) As of right now i have about 3 races on the schedule, Columbia (Olympic in MD) Eagleman (1/2 also in MD) and Musselman (1/2 in upstate NY) i am sure i will fit in a sprint race here and there. I am the Philly area...

My biggest concern is nutrition, i've never really focused on it..
I would love to hear what other people are doing and how they are training, and maybe we can all meet up come race day!!!!

Hope to hear from you guys soon
john

Hey great to hear from you. There are 3 total people I know of on this site (including me) doing IM Moo 2005.

For nutrition, check out www.infinitnutrition.com. The founder just finished Kona last month and complete the entire race on a 100% liquid diet. I'm definately going to go that route as soon as my coach checks out the site and makes some recommendations for me.

Greetings fellow IM'rs...

John...check the training blog as well. I'll be posting stuff on IMoo there as well.

I'm a local madisonian...so let me know if you have any questions about the course, Madison, etc. This is my second crack at IMoo...

As far as nutrition, I made some fatal errors the 48hrs before race day that lead to me missing the bike cutoff by 7 minutes. This year, no solid food for 12 hrs before the race. I trained all summer on strictly liquids on the bike, and gel on the run. I use Hammer Nutrition products! I had great success. It takes some planning and you need to practice your plan in training. Some stuff works, some doesn't...need to find this out before race day. Check out www.hammernutrition.com. They have great articles on endurance nutrition.

It may not fit into your schedule or budget, but I'd recommend getting out to Madison for a weekend and spending time on the bike course. It is very challenging to say the least.

Also, myself and Weds19 are doing IM Moo, so add us to the list.

I plan on doing IMOO, assuming I don't fall off my bike and hurt myself, get sick from sucking in too much clorinated water, or have something important bit fall off while running.

Hi Everyone

I am also doing IM Wisconsin. This will be my first IM. Started triathlons two summers ago. I've done a few sprints, 2 olympic, and one half (which was pretty brutal I have to admit).

I also am concerned about nutrition, and want to start experimenting now in my training. I have heard about Hammer, Ensure-Plus, and Cytomax. Any experiance out there with these?

Richard

Richard...

Welcome to the suffering!!!! Just kidding...

As I posted above, I've had great success w/ Hammer Nutriton products. I specifically use Perpeteum & Hammer H.E.E.D. on the bike, Hammer Gel on the runn, and Sustained Energy for recovery. I'd be happy to give you more details of my program. Just email me privately, or I can post to everyone if I get interest. It might take soon time to put everything together. The hammer site has great info on endurance nutrition as well. Warning: Gratuitious plug for free stuff... If you are interested in trying Hammer products, I can get you a referral worth 15% off your first order.

This is my second shot at IMoo. I missed the bike cutoff by 7 minutes due to a flat tire and nutrition issues the 48hrs prior to race day.

Good luck!

Mike

Hey Mike:

My coach and I will be up your way in the spring for the Horrible Hilly Hundred and to ride IM Moo course a few times. I'll be in touch and we'll hook up.

I'm psyched so many people are doing IM Moo, we should have a BT party Friday night before the race! beer and cigars....(obviously just joking).

I won't be competing at IM-Moo until 2006 ( want to get a season of 1/2 IM and a Marathon under my belt first ).

*BUT* I will be planning on working the course again this year. I volunteered for an aid station ( #4 ) on the run course last year, and it was an amazing experience. I'll be doing the same again this year.

I'm planning on doing the Lake Geneva Oly on the 10th ( day before IM Moo ).

Nice thing about the run course, is that I can watch the swim start and the bike transition.

We definitely should plan a BT get together for the race!
