Raleigh Road Bike

date: October 15, 2007
review by: BrianO

Someone referred this bike to me and I made the purchase based on that recommendation and haven't been disappointed. I've logged about 250 miles on it and its all good. By comparing to other entry levels, it has a few marginally better components and still cheaper than most others. Its heavy, but thats to be expected.
Would recommend.

Giant OCR 1

Overall, an excellent entry level bike that I don't regret buying for a second. The Ultegra and 105 groupo mix has been solid and required only a few adjustments here and there. The triple crankset is nice for when I was just starting out, but I am finding that I don't use the granny-gear anymore so it is just unnecessary weight at this point.

Speedplay Chromoly X

Overall, when these wear out, I will buy another Speedplay product. I might choose the stainless steel version for more durability, but for the price, I can't complain. Highly adjustable, low profile for powering through turns, and dependability of use make them great. Carry the pedal covers with you, and use the teflon grease to keep the cleats lubed and you'll be happy.

Its an ok bike but if I had it to do all over I think I would have just searched Craigslist for longer and tried to find a second hand bike for the same price. My next bike will come from an LBS.

Cervelo P2K

The P2 and P2K model has a long and prestigious career in triathlon history. If you want high-end bike features like a rear wheel cutout, carbon seatpost, and aero shaped frame tubing, but don't have the money for the truely high-end, then this model is for you.

The 2006 model year started offering an all carbon option in this model line. 2005 was still an aluminum frame, but Cervelo's smart wall tubing still makes it very light and stiff for an Al bike.

I love this bike. My geared-bike friends don't really get it, but for you fixies, I highly recommend it. Also - the price has dropped since I got mine. Base price as of September 2007 is $499.

Overall, an excellent starter bike. I have yet to replace it as my general road bike, and am merely upgrading and adding components [within reason] for now.
