Love, Love, Love

Now, that doesn't mean I get frustrated now and then and a swim, bike or run feels like shyte

Not sure if hate is the correct word for my feeling about running (love is definitely the wrong word), but love, love the other two. Frustrated, scared, insecure. Those words better describe my running emotions (but I will NOT let those feelings stop me).

Ditto that but with swimming instead of running. Fear of having to learn to swim kept me from doing triathlons for years. Thanks to some inspiration from watching a coworker find success and happiness from training and completing IMWI last year, I signed up for a HIM this summer. I haven't overcome my swimming issues yet but look forward to the time when I can enjoy trips to the pool someday.

Great thread idea.

I love to run, bike and swim

Swimming and Biking have always been strengths and were the attraction that drew me into Triathlons. Although my run sucked when I started out, I still enjoyed it. Now after 8 marathons, my run does not suck so bad and I enjoy it that much more. (Not to mention running distance races)

To be clear, I love training for each of the three disciplines and I love to race. It is imperative that training be fun since racing is only 5% of my total volume for the year.

The best part of all this is that my surfing has improved a great deal even if I don't have as much time to paddle out as used to

spokes - 2008-01-23 3:32 PM Want I want to know is "Where is Combat Mountain Biking?"

I sure am glad that he did not allow for "User Defined' entries in this poll. It would get very silly in a hurry

C'mon Spokes, you love to run. Don't tell me you were not "Man On Fire" in the last 100 yards of your last Half Marathon when you knew you had a new PR.

Or better, when you were within sight of the finish at CIM, you did not suddenly think to yourself, "I am going to F'n Do this thing, YEAH!!"

I LOVE running. And I love swimming and cycling, just not as much as I love running. And even though I really suck at swimming, I still do enjoy it. There's nothing more relaxing than hopping into a pool and just gliding along...

I can't say that I love swimming, biking, or running.  I like 2 of them, dislike one but am getting better, but I love triathlon.

Pretty much a case where the whole is greater than the sum of its' parts.

So, for example, just (hypothetically speaking, of course) suppose that someone started a thread about how they hate running, and someone blasted them, and called it insane that they were signed up for 2 HIMs.  I dunno, maybe the whole is greater than the sum of its' parts for that person too.

Well, I'm off to run.  I used to hate it, but now I actually like it.  Who knew?

I love love love cycling; love running; swimming I enjoy and think it would be better for me if  how fast/slow didn't matter ie race  as I hate being so slow after swimming for 4 years.

Love, Love, Love.... But the real test is what you think at mile 13.1 on an IM run; I forget, but I seem to recall hate, hate, hate. lol  Boy it sure is a good thing that us humans don't remember pain, otherwise there'd be no siblings in the world, and no triathlon.

Love cycling, love running, like swimming. I don't mind going to the pool by any means, but I don't look forward to and get as excited about my swims as I do my runs and bikes. However, for OWS, I can hardly contain myself .

That's why you've got the wetsuit, so you don't vaporize into molecules or something.

LOL

I love running the most, but my knees beg to differ. In fact, I got into tris partially because a knee doc told me that my knees would be better off with some swimming and biking thrown into the mix. I love the easiness of running, and the fact that all you need are a good pair of shoes and you can do it anytime, anywhere (yes I have even run in blizzards).

second choice is cycling. The only thing that daunts me is that traffic really freaks me out, especially here in da bronx.

Swimming....eh...well, I'd have to be a lot more efficient to really enjoy it. I don't hate it tho. I don't like chlorine and crowded pools, but I can live with them.

Also, there's something about the tri being more than the sum of its parts. For some reason, I find (in my extremely limited experience) that doing all 3 sports and transitioning between them is way more of a gas than just doing one. Chalk it up to ADD...

I think you need to add I Love Triathlon.  Because, while I checked Love Running, given the choice between running a marathon and doing an Ironman, I'll choose IM everytime.  Running alone just doesn't compare to doing all three together...for me.

I love all three. Truly. I was a runner first, but I took several years away from multisport to spend a LOT of time bike racing. Then several years off all competetive sports (but I was weight training a lot). And when I returned to consistent aerobic work, I automatically wanted to get back into triathlon, because I love doing all three...
