, Texas | Subject: Profile Design AquaCell vs. Podium Quest I'm looking at getting one of the new PD AquaCell or Podium Quest aero drink setups. I'm currently leaning towards the AquaCell, but since it's so new, I can't find much info on it. Does anyone have a PD AquaCell setup? I know it has two chambers and the smaller chamber fits inside the larger one. I like this idea as it would seem easy to clean both chambers, but I can't find any pics of them separated or visualize how this works. How do the chambers seal between each other? Does this create leaks? |

Veteran 210 Portland, OR | Subject: RE: Profile Design AquaCell vs. Podium Quest I just bought the PD Aquacell from Trisports.com. It's been in the package for about a week. My first impression is that it's enormous. Huge to be exact. I keep looking at it to decide if I really want to open the package or send it back. Anyway, I'll take a look tonight and try to post up a reply tomorrow. BTW the graphics aren't too bad. It's Grey and black just like what's shown on the Trisports website. They show a couple different color versions depending on where you look. Jim |

Veteran 210 Portland, OR | Subject: RE: Profile Design AquaCell vs. Podium Quest OK Guys.... I finally opened the bag. I have to eat a little crow on this one because it actually looks pretty good. If I could find the @!#*$ camera I'd takes some pics. So, In all fairness to PD I'll write a little review this weekend. To answer your previous questions though. I really doubt it will leak. The inner cell fits pretty darn tight and theres just a little gap where the straw for the main cell cuts next to it. Pictures will help explain what I'm saying. Also, The tops on each cell are made of rubber and cut in a star pattern to aid in refills. I think that should really help out with the spilling issues. They also provide 2 "yellow things" to go under (I'm assuming) each top. At fist glance I'd say it's a keeper. I have a longer training ride this week end so maybe I'll try it out in addition to writing something up. Edited by blueR6440 2008-05-01 9:59 PM |

Veteran 210 Portland, OR | Subject: RE: Profile Design AquaCell vs. Podium Quest Here you go. Probably more than you wanted to know but... Below is a comparison. You're right, 44oz is a big bottle but it dosen't look too bad. Below shows whats included. You can see the slot in the right hand side of the smaller chamber where the straw runs down into the larger cell. The outside of the smaller cell is completly exposed to the large cell. This shows the top cap with a star pattern to help with refills. Much better than just an opening with the yellow thing. Also, I was at the shop today and noticed the new standard bottles now come with this same set up. Much better. This show both straw openings. The straw on the right opens into the large cell. You can see the gaps around the straw which might leak. Although, it dosen't seem too likely. If you're using water in the big cell it won't matter. Once the small cell is removed the larger cell is complettely open. The only long term issue might be if the plastic creeps and the small cell becomes loose. If you're using the rubber straps this shouldn't be an issue. |

Veteran 210 Portland, OR | Subject: RE: Profile Design AquaCell vs. Podium Quest Just thought I'd add that in addtion to the new cap, the graphics on the standard bottle now match the AquaCell. I think they're listening. Nicely done PD. |

Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: Profile Design AquaCell vs. Podium Quest I bought the AquaCell and have a Podium Quest. I have the Profile Design bracket and the Aquacell doesn't sit in it right. I like the podium quest but not I wash both in the dishwasher. I think the Aquacell will clean better do to the shape of the two chambers...the Podium Quest is sealed in the bottom. Kathy, I checked the website and I cannot find specific info on the aero bar width as far as accommodating the Aquacell (I would like to get one!) I don't have the bracket. How is it mounted without the bracket? With velcro? Or do you just slide it between the bars? Bands? Is it too wide for your bracket? Thanks! |

Extreme Veteran 392 Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Profile Design AquaCell vs. Podium Quest Hey blue! Thanks for the great details... I would like to get an AquaCell but I cannot find specific info about the width between the aerobars to accommodate it. Kathy said she has the bracket and it doesn't fit (The PD website claims that you can use the bracket)... How narrow are your aeros? And do you just use the bands to keep it in place? Thanks! |

I haven't figured out what the deal is..I think it may be my power meter mount. I tried for about 2-3 minutes to get it to work and couldn't so set it aside until I have more time and/or my husband could help me. It slides in just isn't level. It isn't the width that is the issue. |

Kathy said she has the bracket and it doesn't fit (The PD website claims that you can use the bracket)... How narrow are your aeros? And do you just use the bands to keep it in place? Thanks! If you can fit the standard bottle you should be able to fit this one. Unless you have something else in the way. Also, the bands should work just fine. As for the bracket, the problem is that the lower portion of the bottle flares out so you can't lift it up between the bars. I think if you look at the front view you can see what I mean. Basically, the bracket is nearly useless unless you bars are wider than the lower portion of the bottle. I'll measure the bottle width and post up tonight. Jim |

I took a better look at the picture you posted... I think I will go ahead and order one (but not the bracket). I use the old PD Aero Bottle now without a bracket and no problems. I really like the idea of having my energy drink and H2O right there in aero.... |

Veteran 210 Portland, OR | Subject: RE: Profile Design AquaCell vs. Podium Quest Just for reference the bottom of the bottle is 3" wide. If your bars are less than that the bracket might not work. Mine are less than 2.5" and the bottle is fairly loose side to side. It's the same side to side as the standard bottle. I'll probably just add a piece of foam rubber to each side and use the bands. |

Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: Profile Design AquaCell vs. Podium Quest I took the bracket off and it worked well. I can actually slip it in up and down and not thru my aerobars which avoids my power tap computer mount. It does splash so using the covers and yellow net things is helpful as I got a lot of Gatorade on my doing my 85 miler yesterday.
