Age Group Rank = 8/14
Pre-race routine:

Ate some mini bagels & drank water!! Husband loaded the car & put the kids in the van. Only thing I forgot was swimsuits for the girls.
Event warmup:

I swam 10 min in the lake. And massaged my calves & praying they won't cramp up.
Swim
  • 27m 24s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

I felt great on the swim. I drafted until the first bouy. I felt relax and kept it long & strong! I only became anxious when I saw these under water bushes that kept touching me. Thank goodness there wasn't a lot of it and I moved away from them.
Swim pace: 1:52 min/Meter
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 1
  • 02m 9s
Comments:

Forgot GU! Decided not to wear gloves.
What would you do differently?:

Bring Gu!
Bike
  • 1h 20m 53s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.43 mile/hr
Comments:

On the bike I felt I did really good! I was low a lot & aspecially when going down hill. Max Speed 27mph on a down hill!! I did get tired at times and went easy for a little bit then picked it up. I liked the longer route. It is more scenic than the Sprint distance!
Bike pace = 17.03 mi/hr
What would you do differently?:

Push through to the top of the hills.
Transition 2
  • 01m 22s
Run
  • 1h 11m 1s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 11m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

I was pretty tired by this time. I wasn't cramping!!! So I just went. I sang song in my head to keep me going. I cheered people on when they passed me - "Good Job!" Ate 2xGU. It really helped. I should have had 1 more because I really started to die the last mile! I kept telling myself almost there. One of the volunteers even ran with me for a bit just before the crowds. I picked it up for the finish.
Run pace = 10:36 mi/hr
What would you do differently?:

Eat 1more GU. I need to work on running. This was only the 2nd time I have ran 6.2miles. I know I could really be smokin if I get my running to improve.
Post race
Warm down:

I walk around & stretched.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I wasn't sure what to expect. I almost didn't want to do it but I knew I had friends encouraging me.

Event comments:

I actually like olympic distance Tri!! I can't believe I did it!! Can't wait to do the next one! I though I would finish around 3hours - 3 1/2hours. I didn't think I would be this close to 3hours!!

Really nice race!  Good job, especially on the run, it's brutal in the summer.
