Any must do's for you? What do y'all have on your radar for the new year?

I plan on doing an olympic somewhere and will throw a sprint or two in there.  I would like to do the Spooky Sprint/Great Pumpkin Duathlon again.

Anyone recommend a good olympic distance race, preferably not 3D.

I picked a couple already.  I probabley set some goals high for myself, considering my present swimming shape, but it's there to do.

I would like to try a EE race this year, not sure which one.  I just hear everyone say they are run good.  So far it's only been 3d and Playmakers for me.

Big Fish is on my sights for sure, it's only 17 miles from my house and I ride in that area a lot now.

I haven't done Sylvania in the past, but have read good race reports about it and it's ran by Elite Endeavors who are known for putting on a good race.

I'm planning to do an indoor tri for my first ever event at my local Y in March.

Maybe Ann Arbor (Sprint).

New Baltimore/ Anchor Bay sprint in July.

Tawas Bay (Oly?) September.

Being my first season at this, I'd appreciate any feedback from others on this schedule.

Thanks

I have no idea.  I want to do them all!

Martian Half, for sure.  Others of interest, Hawk Island, nearly all the Elite Endeavors races, Grand Marais.  I'd also like to do the weeknight races at ILRA.  I think I'll also do the Gaylord 12k again.

The races are going to be shorter for me this coming season.  The goals have changed from last year.  A couple new things will be some more stand alone running races, and I'd like to throw an xterra in, if the schedule works.

This is what I'd like to do:

Martian Half Marathon - April

Dexter-Ann Arbor Half Marathon - June

Big Fish Tri (Sprint) - June

One Helluva Ride - July

Sylvania Tri or Craig Greenfield - August (Sprint or Oly...not sure)

Michigan Triathlon Championship (Oly) - Not sure on this race as the weather has sucked the last two years making for a miserable race - September

Detroit Half Marathon (Maybe the full Marathon) - October

Here's my tentative schedule:

Illinois marathon- April
Toledo half marathon- may
Kansas HIM- June
Muncie (IN) HIM- July
Pigman (IA) HIM- August
Muskoka HIM- September

If I can fit in some local races, I'd like to do the Ann Arbor Tri, and maybe do another Oly, since I've only ever done 1!

Then maybe Chicago, NY or Detroit marathon?

Western States? I down bow to you...

I will be running the Martian Half...so you all can meet me there if we don't meet before that!

My first tri ever will be Big Fish.  I am all excited!  I wish it was sooner!

I have everything listed in my goals...New Baltimore Sprint, Blue Water Oly, Detroit Marathon.

Okay, here is what my '09 looks like, thus far:

Atlanta half - March 29

Bayshore marathon - May 24?

A2 Tri - June

Big Fish - June

Carls YMCA - July

Blue Water - August

Tri/Du Champs - Sept

Of course, this schedule is subject to change and I'm sure I'll throw a road race or maybe even a mtn bike race in there.  There is also a possibility of a 5-day mtn bike ride thru Idaho.

Um yeah... I'll be having a kid in June so my season is toast.

No seriously, I'm thinking a couple of indoor tris in Jan/Feb. and then nothing longer than a 10k until Aug/Sept when I'd love to hit one of the Running Fit sprint tris and then come back strong for the Detroit FP Half.  Going to have to track down one of those baby jogger things...

Congratulations!  That is awesome!  Your 2009 tri's will consist of feeding/burping/changing.  YEAH, a greyhound puppy!!!

I'm currently signed up for the Chicago Sprint in August.  I'm thinking of doing an indoor this winter and possibly doing a sprint tri in either North Muskegon or Ludington first.  Not sure yet.

Rymac, just so you know it looks like HFP has changed the Toyota Challenge HIM to the last weekend in Sept.  I was considering doing that instead of Tawas since they were on the same weekend this year, but with the change in dates Tawas is my only option in prepping for the IM dist race.
