What's on tap?  Since shortly after college, we've usually been the dinner and a movie type of crowd, rarely awake at midnight...   Sometimes it feels too scary to be out.

Occasionally, we will have a dive trip over New Years and are underwater at the stroke of midnight, but even then, last year I decided the bed was cozier than diving.

You?

For the last couple of years it's been a party at a friend's place. This year there is too. Prior to that, we used to go out to nightclubs, but having been doing that for a few years now. A couple of years ago, I was in New York, but couldn't get into Times Square. Once we went downhill skiing. That was great because there were no lineups for the chairlifts.

Invites to three parties (one of which is an annual nonprofit org thing we go to most years) and I suspect there may be some sentiment to party hop, but I'm hoping we just land at one and stay there.

Good friends from Philly are spending a few days with us. Since we both have kids on either side of 2, we'll be staying in. I'm all set to make many pitchers of Margaritas. We're going to pretend it isn't January in Wisconsin.

So yesterday I'm filling out a health insurance form and realize - HOLY CARP! tomorrow 12/31 is my anniversary.

The irony is that I always tell people one of the benefits of a New Years Eve wedding is that you won't forget the date.  Oops.

Tomorrow will probably be like any other night, except starting on Thursday morning I'll be writing the wrong year when I date things.  Money being really REALLY tight this year, we haven't even discussed the possibility of going out to dinner or even exchanging gifts.

In fact, in many ways, New Years Eve will be pretty sad around the Condor nest...

(but then New Years Day it is all about the Hawkeyes winning the Outback Bowl!)

We're taking in a hockey game and we'll be home by midnight.  It will be a relief to be off the roads and out of public places when 'amateur night' heats up...

ugh. The ORIGINAL plan was to spend a nice, quiet, night at home with a few bottles of wine, my beautiful wife, animals, make some nice fillets and watch it drop on TV.
We have now been roped into going to a party at my wife's friends house. not only that, we are now being required to sleep at their house.
NOT looking forward to everyone being crazy and me sitting there with a 6'er of mich ultra.
as long as my wife has fun that'll be worth it for me.

College basketball game - I have season tickets. Game will be over by 9 pm though, no idea what's going on after that. Might hit up a quiet bar or something.

Kickin it here at the house with about 25 others.  All are either an IM,HIM, cyclist, runner, or support spouse.  Then on New Years Day is the annual Mtn Bike poker run, with great door prizes and all the New Years foods.

We are doing the nice quiet evening at home. The fiance is defending his dissertation Jan.6th so he wants to read over and over and over it again. As for me I will be having those little hotdogs in a bun, trainer ride and the Twlight Zone marathon

my eldest turn 9 yesterday so we told her she could have a sleep over on the 31sdt!  Only night daddy would be home with next day off for 3 weeks and she wanted party NOW!  Only allowed 3 girls to be invited so it'll be relatively calm with pizza, cake and a movie.... then a neighbor sets of a great fireworks display and we'll let girls out for that.  Hopefully a easy night!

Dinner, Cake concert with friends , then boom-chicka-chicka-wah-wah with the wife.

Yeah, right. We'll just get home and fall asleep as soon as the heads hit the pillows.

I feel old!!  I will be asleep at midnight, as I haven't stayed up that late for years.  I figure I will be up early on Thursday, so I can have the pool to myself while everyone else is still sleeping.

Pat and I are spending the evening at home, watching The Wire, playing Rock Band 2 and hanging out. He's been sick as a dog all week, and his ear is killing him. We were thinking about going to First Night Pittsburgh, but it is supposed to be freezing cold and raining tomorrow...not good for a sick husband.
