Lansing Dietetic Assn
35F / 2C
Precipitation
Total Time = 25m 21s
Overall Rank = 87/385
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 3/19
Pre-race routine:

Woke up early to get my oil changed in my car. Wasn't sure I was going to race because of the weather, but I decided to drive over there and make it a starting gun time decision.
Event warmup:

ran and stretched, twice, but it was hard to warm up because of the weather. My legs didn't really feel warmed-up until after the run and that only lasted for a few moments. Then they started to freeze again.
Run
  • 25m 21s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 11s  min/mile
Comments:

It was raining and hailing during the run - not what I would call ideal race conditions and there were points in the run when I had to slow down because the ice was building up on the boardwalk portion of the course, but it wasn't awful.

I still managed to post a PR and to place top 3 in my Age Group
Post race
Warm down:

Streched - Ran for about 10 minutes at a slow jog - stretched again. Got out of there because it was too cold and I was afraid of cramping up.

Event comments:

Race was great. But I really would have liked it to be a little warmer or dryer or both. :)

Overall: 87/385
Performance: Good
8:08 in the first mile; I think the second was faster; lost a bit of speed toward the middle of the 3rd mile
Course: Hawk Island County Park. Not the most exciting course. It goes around the trail at Hawk Island twice, but to get the last little bit of distance at the end they threw on this up-hill/downhill that was more of a cross country or trail run style grade. I wasn't entirely ready for it, but I think I did okay with it.

Woo Hoo!! GREAT JOB, Dana!!  Did you collect some HARDWARE ??

There is more to you then meets the eye!  First I find you've done "Dances" a few times...now you're medaling!  Next group run I'm going to spend less time chatting with you and more time pushing you - cause you can handle it !!

Again, AWESOME job !!

Fromer - They gave the top 3 in each AG a medal, and you better believe I went to Playmakers and picked it up today. Don't know how many times I am going to medal, so don't want to take this one for granted.

Luis - thanks. I love your quote, "I had brain surgery, what's your excuse?" It says it all.
