trey800hj - 2009-03-19 9:53 AM Did it annoy anyone else that that guy was wearing a four bottle fuel belt inside?  Seriously wtf?

No, why would that annoy me?

Well he was running indoors...why not just set a bottle on one of the tables he was running by dozens of times.  It just seemed a little over the top.

I think I made that same comment on the CoJ version of this thread.  Seriously...who wears a fuel belt INSIDE???

Meh... cause it's what they're comfortable doing?
I'm sure we all do things that even other triathletes do a double take at. If it works for you, cool. I'm not gonna be the one to point and laugh.

My only guess is a "train like you race" kind of thing.  If he uses it in all his long races he would probably want to wear it on ALL his long runs.  That I could understand...sorta.

BHannahs - 2009-03-18 9:58 AM I agree that 2:24 is a totally realistic time for Tara.  I ran my first 1/2 in 2:26, and seeing her pace, it looked to be similar to what I was running at that time.
Totally realistic. Before they even started, I turned to my wife and predicted "around 2:20" for Tara. (For the record, my wife's first ever HM--after she lost 62 lbs. and with a couple months of prep--was 2:16. Tara's shown that she's naturally athletic in all the prior challenges. Nothing at all surprising about her time, IMO, esp. given all the hours on the treadmill over two-plus months.)

I was a bit annoyed that she having lost almost 100 pounds and training for only 10 weeks was so fast compared to me...petty I know. I was excited that my 1/2 Mary time is faster than all of theirs though. I have lost almost 100 pounds too but I've been training since 2004 and more seriously for 2005. Genes make a huge difference as to our ability and potential. She is almost young enough to be me kid so maybe that helps.

As much time as they work out a day I didn't think it was such a big deal. Look many of them run/walked.  Did they drink enough or take in nutrition probably not.

Different conditions to run in make a difference....for sure. But what about Abrey I thought she ate cookies and didn't give the 5 minutes to anyone.

I think she found out that Helen was giving hers to Tara and maybe chickened out.  Guessing they are jealous of Tara. If they weren't going to make her fess up, then why show her eating a cookie?

I'm not sure who is editing this show but it's been one fail after another.

I still want to know why idiot Helen only ate one.  A TV show shoudl not make me this angry but it seems like a complete violation of any principle of logic that she did that and then didn't have to explain.  If I were Tara I totally would have lost it.

You should go read the CoJ version...I think I said something along these lines too.  With the cookies you had to go big or go home...you pretty much had to eat enough cookies to take down EVERYONE that you thought could run faster than you.

Helen owes Tara $10k.

I would HATE to have to run 13.1 miles on a track! Kill me now!

Helen did cost her $10,000, but if it were me that was HANDED the $10k and I had gotten 2nd place because of someone else's idiotness, I would have offered to at least split the cash with Tara. She earned it fair and square. I would have felt guilty taking it for 2nd place! Besides the fact that it could have earned brownie points with Tara for a later point in the game when you might need it.

BL must have believed that they were in shape enough to run a 1/2 or they wouldn't have put them to up to it. Thank GOD, my last half time was 2:19...I beat her lol, but barely!!

I love this show - the tips, the inspiration.

I think it would have been nice of Scione to offer to split it with her.  I would probably have done that...or I hope I would do that!  Unless Scione has some debt or something we don't know about and he really really NEEDED it.  Hard to say what someone else should do....you don't know their circumstances.  I just think he should have.

Well since he's not working while at the ranch, I'm sure he could have used the money. But Tara is probably in the same position. If BL is anything like Survivor, they get a stipend for each week they are there, but who knows how much that actually is.

Sione and his cuz seem like really cool guys, so I'm a bit suprised he didn't offer to split it, but maybe in the heat of the moment he just didn't think about it.

I think Helen thought she could be Sione, so she didn't need to eat a cookie for him.  She felt like Tara would beat her, and she did.  But Helen didn't beat Sione, so she ended up hurting Tara.

I think the times are pretty reasonable.  I agree that NBC did a horrible job showing splits, but 2:24:4X or whatever it was is a pretty solid time.

That Aubrey ate cookies for anyone other than the top 2 finishers, does not matter so why show it except to instigate issues between the contestants.  So at SOME point it might come out.

To the people saying he should have split the money, easy to say when someone isn't handing you 10,000 dollars! Why should he split it. It wasn't who was fastest. It was who had the best time after all was said and done (including cookies). Those were the rules going in. Tara didn't win anything "fair and square." She could only win if you changed the rules afterwords. (AKA cheating).

10 g's is 10 g's.  If I followed the rules and won.  I'm keeping it.  I would sort of feel bad the other person got screwed over by someone else, but those WERE the rules of the game...  It's all mine.
