A group of us from the Detroit Athletic Club (MSU Dan included) will have a tent near the finish.  It will be pretty well stocked with food and drinks (of course beer too).  You and your family/friends are all more than welcome to come hang out, snack, etc.

We decided to pair up with Make-A-Wish foundation and are raising funds for a little guy with Cancer.  No pressure to donate, but feel free to take a quick look at our link.

https://secure.wish.org/ourfriends/022-000/dactriathletes.htm

Good luck, enjoy and I look forward to meeting the rest of you!

Not sure the athenas take off at different times, it's just for placement. I'd just like to start the swim with someone I know, that's all. And I'm not fast in the water!! So maybe we can start together?!?

start in my group and swim with me.  then you can pull me on the bike and push me on the run Wink

Trixie,

I only wish I was still in the 35 - 39 age group! Sorry, I lost that a LONG time ago!

As Blake said, please meet us at the Detroit Athletic Club tent! We will have some carbs for after the race!

The RACING GREYHOUNDS will also have a tent in the finish area.  Look for a blue KHS tent and a ton of people cheering/screaming.

Trix, they'll likely do a bunch of the sprint women at a time, so you may go off with someone you know!

I'm more nervous about getting my racer there and being a good sherpa then if I was actually racing.

Once you get your racer set up (so glad she's doing it!), come find me at the RACING GREYHOUNDS tent. I'll be hanging there cheering on all of our racing friends. Be sure to bring a chair too!

See you on Sunday!

I will be there as well doing my first outdoor tri. 35-39 Mens AG Sprint. I will be the one with the red and blue sun tattoo on my left arm. One question I have is what do I tell friends and family as far as what time to get there. Do they have to arrive prior to 8am to get parked on the island? AeroBaldness, any others from GPN adult lap swim doing this race?

First of GOOD LUCK!!!  Glenn did the Sprint last year and, I think had thoughts of doing it again (but I am not sure as I have been swimming at the park and haven't seen him in a while).  The big lot will fill up, but I'd think if they got down there just prior to 8:00 they'd be fine.  The bike course will make things difficult on the island after about 8:15 or so.

WTH, can you all tell I've never added an attachement before?  All I wanted to do was add a map to clear up my screwy directions.  Hope the map helps and sorry for the mess of empty posts.

I just realized that 3d has a Facebook page with some great updates on the conditions of the course and I thought you guys might find it useful. http://www.facebook.com/pages/3-Disciplines-Racing/191253957550?v=wall I wish I were doing this one, it sounds like fun.

for those doing the race, you can also ride your bike to the beach/T1 area.  Make sure to wear your helmet, I'd hate for Kenny to have a hissy and DQ someone.

As for the 3D FB page, you don't have to be their friend to view the posts, do you?  Sealed

He is a USAT certified race director now, and most certainly will dq you if you ride sans helmet.  I got chewed out by my coach at Willow for even attempting to mount the red devil without a lid.  Great advice Cap't 1nose!

Thanks Ted, I noticed that area but couldn't tell what it was.

3D didn't say anything to those riding without helmets at Gross Ile Du (Kenny wasn't around that day), I was actually surprised how many people rode there bikes to transition without lids on, and some that looked like they were seasoned veterans, as it's a known DQ'able offense.
