Swim
Comments: Swim was suppose to be in the Old River, but was moved to the Gulf of Mexico because of crap in the river. So wasn't mentally prepared to swim in the ocean. What would you do differently?: Train for the swim better. Transition 1
Comments: They didn't do times on transitions. I would guess it was probably about 4-5 minutes. After exiting the water, it was a 100 yard run, at least up the beach to T1. Took my time a little bit because I was exhausted from the swim. This time was added on the bike. Had some gatorade and a bite of a powerbar from my bag. Bike
Comments: My bike time was probably closer to 58 minutes, but because of T1 it appears higher. Was passed a lot, but never by another mountain bike. Strong headwind on the way back in. What would you do differently?: Buy a better bike. Transition 2
Comments: Had another sip of gatorade and bit of the powerbar. T2 time was probably around 1 minute, maybe a little under it. What would you do differently?: Not forget my race number. :) Run
Comments: Felt really good on the run. After about the first 1/2 mile the legs got back to normal and was able to maintain a race pace. Passed a lot of the people who passed me on the bike. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Nothing, should have stretched a little more. What limited your ability to perform faster: Cheap mountain bike, strong headwinds, and being a poor swimmer. Event comments: 65 out 108 for first timers. Last updated: 2005-03-08 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:15, ate a powerbar and had a gatorade. Left for the race at about 5:00, got to the race at about 5:45. Unpacked, got a good area in the transition area. Got number and waited until the race started.
Ran on the beach and stretched a little bit. Not much into the warm-up.
