Get some bud!

Looking forward to it. My boys are racing after me and we are camping the night prior at Chatfield State Park. Should be fun. Do you know how steep the hills are?

The kids races are a blast, my 8 year old did the splash-mash-dash after me last year.

Overall pretty mild, Lucent/Broadway is the uphill.  The run is a mild grade, downhill outbound.  If it's hilly you're after, check out this year's Splash-Mash-Dash.  The only part that isn't is the swim...

Looked at your Ft Carson report, you'll sail through this one

Just looking to have some fun and throw some good effort. I'm doing the Elephant Rock Ride with another buddy on Sunday so I'm looking to get some good volume in this week. I travel for work next week.

Good luck and welcome to tri world, Steve!  You'll love it!

As far as the bike course goes, it's basically uphill for the first half and downhill for the second.  After coming out of transition, you head mostly down for about a mile or so until you hit Town Center Drive.  Thus begins the long steady uphill that peaks at Broadway and Wildcat Reserve Pkwy.  Then you put your head down all the way back to Town Center and the second loop.  I think the worst uphill is on Town Center Drive.  But, yea, the run is relatively flat with a roller or two and an uphill at the finish.

Splash mash dash on the other hand...

Thanks Todd!  Actually did the Splash-Mash-Dash the last two years, but this is really my first tri with a 'focused effort'.  I've done the Tune Up run course a couple of times, and the streets aren't new, but it'll be fun to see how I fare all the same.  S-M-D distances haave changed this year, that's going to be a challenge...

You going to there Saturday?

Have to work so I'm out.  That and my swim has been nonexistant.  I'm trying to get my shoulders figured out and won't likely do a tri until late summer, if at all.  Hello Fall marathon!

Does anybody know how the swim works on this deal? Circle swim or what? I was thinking about jumping in on this at the last minute...Thanks!

Indoor 25 yard pool, circle swim I believe...that's how they did the splash-mash-dash the last couple years.  Wave start with 4 to a lane for the s-m-d

yes to the flip turns, you stay in one lane for the duration of the swim.

Congrat's triathlete!!  I guess I get to say that I am one too now...I did this race today as well and it was my second ever... Beautiful day for it and a great time! I'm envious that you are a runner though...I'm still trying to figure that out

I'm likewise envious of the runnerz, I made at least a dozen people look really good during the 5k leg!

I'd be happy to trade wisdom with you, although my detailed knowledge of biking skills could fill a candy wrapper

Swimming, on the other hand, I can bore you to tears about...

Great race last week, although the wind took a toll on me on the bike course.  This was my 2nd year doing this race.  One thing I've learned- definitely seed yourself correctly in the swim.  I'm about  a 6:20 500 meter freestyler, but in the hopes of getting a later start time I seeded myself @ 10 minutes.  Ended up taking 8:10 to do the swim, and it probably wasn't fair the folks in my lane.  I'm doing Tri-N-July, I'll seed myself correctly.
Overall I had a good day, still need to work on my running and spend a little time tapering beforehand.  Is everyone else here doing Tri-N-July?
