Subject: Pre-event nutrition
I'm sure I'm doing this wrong as I always seem to conk out towards the end of my run. What and how much should I eat the morning of the race? What and how much should I eat during the event? Should I take electrolyte pills at some point, and if so when and how much?

Thanks!

1) What are the distances.

2) What are you eating? When do you eat it. When do you race?

3) How does your race pace for the swim/bike compare to training pace?

4) How much training do you typically do? How long have you been training?

There are a lot of factors here... and some basic facts are needed.

O.K., I've done an Oly and a HIM (the HIM was most recent).

I ate a banana before I left the house in the wee hours. The race started at 7:00 AM. I also consumed several gel packs during the bike ride.

My race pace for the swim and bike were a little better than my training pace. For the run it was a lot slower.

I trained using a HIM program I downloaded from this website (Bronze). I was doing something 6 days per week with several bricks mixed in. I did the full 20 weeks and missed 0 workouts. The intensity varied by week, but I felt like I trained well.

This is my second year doing tri's and I did a pretty good winter maintenance program.

Have you read the Hammer fueling handbook yet? Not a bad guide on nutritional aspects.
