Subject: Memorial Day W/E Plans?
I know it's only Thursday but I'm getting out early tomorrow so I thought I'd get us going today. Besides the normal burgers and beers anyone have fun plans or specific training plans lined up?

My first tri is June 12. I plan on riding and running the course this weekend. Nothing like doing 2/3 of the race beforehand. The luxury of my "home course" being 20 mins from my house.

Otherwise it's fishing and boating w/ the kids (if sun decides to shine in NY).

Anyone else care to share?

Finally, might I suggest everyone pause for just a moment on Monday and remember those that have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. Seems too many forget that's what this holiday is for.

A safe and happy holiday to all,
Mark

I'm running my first 5K this Saturday. Other than that, I have a good bike ride and a rest day planned.

The local tri-club is putting on a mock sprint tri at a nearby pool on Monday. There will be no timing or officiating, just 5$ to cover lifeguards and somebody to watch the transition area. It'll definitely be the cheapest race I'll ever do.

Well, I have tomorrow off but I'll still get up at 5:30am to catch masters swim and top off my swim goal for the month.  Might jump into a 10k Saturday morning...or blow off exercise for the day.  Long ride Sunday morning...probably 50-75 miles...and a 5-6 mile run that evening.  Monday, well, that's too far off to think about right now but I suspect maybe a 10-12 mile run or maybe a nice open water swim.

Just some ribs, burgers, ribeyes, shrimp, homemade ice cream, and bannana pudding.

Then swim a few thousand yards, bike for a few hours and run once or twice to help burn off the calories from the food I ate.

Also, got to pick out material for curtains and paint color for the baby's room. (She will be here in Sept.)

Going to Colorado to hike in RMNP!  Kind of a trial run to a big backpacking trip that I have planned for the end of August... need to see how much the altitude is gonna kick my butt.

So - no swimming or running or biking... but lots of exercise in store!

I was starting to feel like a geek because I've just been looking forward to logging some good longer workouts this weekend, but sounds like I'm not the only tri geek who thinks that long weekend = more time for triathlon related events

Well I live in Canada so our long weekend was last weekend. Still this weekend is National Capital Race Weekend in Ottawa. One weekend 8 races. There are 25,000 people registered so far with more to come race day. I am doing the 10K on Saturday night and I am going to watch, cheer, and hang out at all the other races. Sunday mornings marathon should be very cool! Woohoo!

I'll take that as a compliment!!! As i was doing a 1/2 mile swim as a warm up b4 intervals this morning I was thinking, Man what is wrong w/ me 1/2 mile as a warm up! Proceeded to ride the bike for 20 minutes after the intervals. Yes I have a problem!!!!

Sunday I'll have my first race of the season and it's the Little Smokies Half IM. Longest race of my life to kick this summer off. Wish me luck! Oh...and after that race I'll be doing the burgers and beers....several beers to replace all of the nutrients I lost during the race

Headed to Coeur d' Alene to ride the course and get in a good long run.  Trying to find out where I can do an open water swim in the area.  Any suggestions?

1) Watching my son graduate from high school
2) entertaining my parents and my PILs
3) taking my parents back to the airport Sunday pm
4) getting away from it all with a swim Saturday, a bike Sunday am, and a swim Monday.

I'll probably eat too much and get major league sunburn in there somewhere as well.

Weather permitting (please please PLEASE) - Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings will all be spent out at the site of my tri (June 5th) practicing open water swimming, with a mock tri  scheduled for whichever morning I feel the most energetic.

I'll be spending Saturday with my brother (whom I haven' seen since November), Sunday working, and Monday I'll be competing in my first triathlon.

I'm stoked.

I'm doing a little swimming, biking and running, and Monday morning our Master's class is meeting at a local lake to practice a little open water swimming. Can't wait.

I'm going down to the Central CA coast (Avila Beach & Santa Maria). I'm taking my gear and planning my normal workouts, however. I'm already mapping out bike routes around where I'll be. There's an area for OW swimming. Sat: bricks & LSD swim. Sun: LSD bike, LSD run. Mon: Bike speed workout (usually a spin class so I'll have to figure something out), and swim drills. Other than that, I'm looking forward to the Avila Beach Blues Festival with The Robert Cray Band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and the Moody Blues.

Enjoy, everyone!

Spending the weekend in Vermont.  We're taking our bikes.  I plan to bike and run while I'm there.  It will be way to cold for any OW swimming.

Helping my old roommates move out of the house I used to live in on Saturday (I see it as 8 hours of strength training...lots of crap in a 4br house), got a 5k in Brentwood, CA on Sunday and then my first ocean swim followed by a 20mile ride up the Rincon coast bright and early on Monday AM.

Really weird not to be getting wasted at Havasu or Laughlin on Memorial Day weekend (though I will miss the young and naked women who do fun things when they are drunk)

This tri thing really has changed my life!!!!

Heading up to the 1/2 IM course to get a ride and a run in over the course.  Probably do 1/2 the bike, since it's an out and back course and a few miles of the run course.  Planning on videoing both courses to bring back to watch
