Hello

Anyone else doing the this race.  1/2 Iron or Sprint.

I was signed-up for the 1/2 Iron AquaBike part of this race but my knee is making good progress from the surgery so I decided to get into the Sprint Race.

Kevin

Yep, I'm doing the HIM.  Looks like about a dozen of us are doing that race:

I'm in for the HIM.  A couple of us went up and biked the bike course for the HIM.  We actually just did the sections that are not on 17 except for what we had to do.  Most of the roads are great.  One section was pretty rough,  Halfway Creek Rd., but it was only for a couple of miles.  Super flat, saw a max elevation of about 75ft and a min of -7 but you could barely tell.

They are going to let the elite waves go first so the gators should full by the time I hop in.

Coming up from Athens, Ga to do the HIM. What's everyone's prediction on whether or not the race is wetsuit legal?  Also, with that being near the coast, is the area fairly breezy?  Definitely looking forward to some flat land as everything around here is rolling hills!

Hello

I live here in Mt Pleasant.

I think the race will be wetsuit legal so be prepared.  We are suppose to be in the high 70's today with our morning temps in the 50's.   It will  be a good day to race and the wind will pick up later in the day.

I made a last minute entry for the sprint.  Been kind of depressed over the past couple months.  Was scheduled to do Ironman Lake Placid, but those plans were sidelined by a small, benign (won't spread), brain tumor near my brain stem.  Had radiation treatment in March, felt like I was hit by a truck, have been able to do some sprint distance kind of training, but nothing like I would have needed for IMLP.  Just trying to get excited about racing again, and decided this weekend's sprint would be a good place to start!  Will almost certainly be there "just to finish,"  will probably be that BOPer that's eaten by the 'gator (read the race director's lengthy disclaimer about the gators that they posted on the event website after the Post and Courier article).

I will be right there with you trying not to be the tail end Charlie. Good job getting in the race.  Nothing like race day before the sun comes up to motivate yourself.

Hello

Looks like the weather is going to turn warm on Saturday here in Mt Pleasant.

Tell family members to arrive early as traffic is going to be a nightmare for the start & end of the bike/run.  We will be crossing Hwy 17 a couple of times so it will be interesting to see how they stop traffic.  The lake will be cold enough to wear your wet-suit so bring it along.

If you are coming from out of town and want some recommendations on places to eat just ask.

Have a safe trip down here to coastal SC.

I will be tall chunky guy in the Xterra sleeveless wet-suit.  During the ride I will be wearing a black UA shirt with Clemson on the front and during the run I will have an orange Clemson Football hat on.  Stop by, say hello and lets get a picture together.

Dont worry about gators.

Oh, and my cycling coach just rode the course this morning and said... 'Enjoy the first half because it's going to be a headwind all the way back'

Good Luck to all of you racing!

Wish I was down there to cheer you on.
