I'm focusing on smaller races this year after my HIM in '09. Two Olys on the schedule already and I'll build in some sprints here and there. I also want to do another half-mary.

Oh, and not get injured.

First marathon May 2 with a 3:45 (aggressive) to 4:00 (reasonable) finish.

Sub 6-hour finish at Steelhead (HIM) July 31.

First year, first races, so:
1) Complete swim without drowning and/or DNF
2) Finish sprint tri
3) Finish sprint tri in under 2 hours and with a big smile on my face.

Be on my feet and crossing the finish line under my own steam during the B2B full. Before Midnight.

IMKY.  Have some smaller local stuff for fun but that's the big dog for me.  Hoping the knees stay strong through the run training.

Sub 6:00 HIM. I'm doubtful of my first HIM this year in June since it's supposed to be a difficult course (Rev3 CT) but perhaps later in the year. If/when I win the Kona Lottery my plans may change some since that will take priority.

4 sprints.  Train consistently.  Improve run endurance (so I don't start to cramp the last half mile).

swimmom2002 - 2010-03-24 6:35 PM

This year I am going to run a half marathon.  It is the one sport I still continue to struggle through, I'd rather swim 13 miles than run it.

Oh, and do it staying injury free would be a plus.

FINALLY a kindred spirit!!

(1)  Finish Buffalo Springs HIM in under 5:30.  I finished last year in 5:50.
(2)  With my wife pregnant, stay motivated and focused to my training and family.  Neither let either feel second place.

I want to qualify for Halfmax nationals (that means I need to go 5:45 @ REV3 knoxville) and I've gotta drag my tired and half dead body across the finish line at Triple T Ohio's Sunday race!!

Finish my first beginner tri and then do a sprint tri later in the summer!  I can do this, yes I can!
