But, then, I really don't worry about my own chest strap when I've just been in the pool with peeing kids, or the guy who gets out of the water to spit green phlegm in the drain then rinses his mouth back in the pool....(I had to get out of the water that day, just couldn't cope with that.)

Then I thought a little about it, and realized my tongue spends all day inside my mouth, which I'm sure has WAY more gross stuff in it than ends up on the HRM. But it's MY gross stuff so I'm ok with it. |

Yeah...until you take that spitty hand and go touching doorhandles and waterfountain buttons! When I was in college studying microbiology (that only lasted one semester btw), we had to "find cultures" on everyday objects. We sampled the toilet seat, door handles, tabletops, card doors, trees, everything we could think of. The "dirtiest" we ever found was on the "lip" of the splash guard of a water fountain as well as the button...those things were infected with Strep and eColi to name a few. You know most people inadvertantly (or unconciously) rest their cheek on the splash guard of the water fountain... Oh, BTW, I lick my chest strap all the time...well, most of the time, unless I forget... Kevin |
