Chatham Ontario | Subject: RE: TEAM SKINNY - June a marriage of weight and goal (June2010) May End = 248 lbs Jun 2= 246 lbs June 9 = 244 lbs June 16 = 242.5 lbs Down again and happy. I am re adjusting my diet again and going to start increasing carb intake even more now. I had another crash day Monday. I had adjusted previously but my runs are starting to get to 5km my bike rides are 50-60km and my swimming is getting up over 1500m for work outs. I need to learn how to fuel this more and the low carb diet (for non insulin dependent diabetic reasons) is no longer cutting it for endurance rides etc. I seem to crash after my 60k ride each week the next day or two are horrible. And I know I am not fueling this while thinking too much about weight loss. I also now know that you can fuel the body on a long ride on body fat alone. They body just can't synthesize it fast enough. I also think as a bigger person with pervious sugar issues there are some theories that I don't have as high of glycogen storage as a more fit athlete. But I am documenting everything and making changes. Also trying to Peach too much this month I think and need to do it by staying active and not just pushing each work out further. I have had one day off in 20. I am taking two days off this week. But this is my first mini triathlon this weekend. Signed up last min now that I am not going away scuba diving. I am excited and nervous all at the same time... Keep it up everyone.. I have been inspired by everyone on here and I am learning more every day. |

Goal is 186. That 5K my friend asked me to walk with her in was this Saturday. She cancelled on me the day before, but then another friend that just started running asked me to walk/run with her. It was a bit of an ego boost actually because she told everyone what a great cheerleader I was during the race. Since we were going slower than I'm used to I was able to encourage her and help her control her pace and breathing. They didn't have timing chips and we weren't near the starting line when we started so I don't know our exact time, but the time on the board when we finished was 41:16. Pretty pathetic, but she was so proud it was contagious. Since I hadn't pushed myself very hard I decided (stupidly) to run/walk the trails to home afterwards (4+ miles) then the next day I did 3.6 miles. By Monday I could barely walk my calves had tightened up so much. I rested Monday and then eased back into things yesterday with just a walk so I wasn't purple on Monday. |

The wife and I did some hiking up to Turtlehead Peak in Red Rock and Mary Jane Falls in the Mt. Charleston area. No buffets, but lots of great food. Goal 155.0 6-1 = 165.6 %BodyFat: 19.70 6-9 = 159.8 %BodyFat: 18.00 6-17 = 159.6 %BodyFat: 18.60 6-24 = 6-31 = |

Hoping it's the strength training -- I think I see improvement in the mirror, but it could be wishful thinking. Will have to try harder this week! Edited by skarl 2010-06-16 10:44 AM |

But the diet is holding strong. Today's weigh in could be completely wrong as I was hung over big time and likely dehydrated. End of May: 214 June 2nd: 212 June 9th: 208 June 16th: 205 June 23rd: June 30th: 204 (or lower!) Bought a new pair of jeans yesterday because my pants are starting to look ridiculous. The new jeans are size 34!! First time in that size since freshman year of high school. Keep at the grind everybody! |

I doubt I'm going to make my goal of 145 this month If I may suggest a 1 day liquid fast (protein drinks only and a lot of water: lemon?) just to shake it up a bit. Confuse the body and re jump start it. We'll see.... that might be hard on my training load.... but as this is a lighter week for me, maybe I could do it. |

Yay! My workouts have been excellent so I guess that has been a key factor--plus I've been off sugar now for several days (a victory in itself!) Looking for 130 next week! |

Extreme Veteran 555 Carrollton, TX | Subject: RE: TEAM SKINNY - June a marriage of weight and goal (June2010) Hi there, Mind if I join in? Weighed in at 147.0 on Monday AM. Would like to be at 142.0 by July 10th (next tri), so 1.25 lbs per week. A little history - weighed 140-141 in January, 142 in March, then rapidly gained up to about 147. I seriously ramped up training during Feb/March, so I assumed some of it was muscle (still think that to be the case, but probably a very small amount of the total gain) but then was a little confused when my pants stopped fitting. I think my appetite is far too big for my training. I'm only averaging 8-9 hours a week and I think I had convinced myself that I needed more food than I actually did. So, I'm aiming for an average of 1800-1900 good quality calories a day and am hoping to see at least a lb lost next week. Anyone have a similar experience? You all are doing great!!! Elizabeth |

Have you had any luck on 1800-1900 a day? I was eating on average 2200 because I was worried about stalling my metabolism by not eating enough.... but that clearly doesn't seem to be the problem. |

Have you had any luck on 1800-1900 a day? I was eating on average 2200 because I was worried about stalling my metabolism by not eating enough.... but that clearly doesn't seem to be the problem. I worked with Marni, the nutritionist here on BT, for a month last year (and it was soooo helpful!) and try to follow what she said, but I need to review my notes. I do remember that minimum calories are 1750, with additional x number of calories for every hour of training, maxing out around 2200. I have my sticky note at work that says Time calories total 8:00 450 10:00 150 600 12:00 450 1050 2:00 150 1200 4:00 150 1350 Then pre-dinner snack and dinner. Lately I've been going under that during the day, which may be the problem. I've also stopped tracking calories after I leave work, which is more likely the problem. The above depends on age and weight and activity level, of course. It sounds to me like your revised plan is more on track for weightloss. |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: TEAM SKINNY - June a marriage of weight and goal (June2010) I have no idea what my weight is at the moment, but I am feeling good about things.I have been retaining water like you wouldn't believe. I've been working outside in a super hot and humid environment and drinking gatorade type stuff to stay hydrated. My feet and hands swelled up like a balloon a few days ago (mostly feet) and are now starting to get back to normal. My shoes almost fit like they should and I can get my ring on and off my finger again. I'll step on the scales when I get home tonight and check things out. Whatever it is, it has to be better than it was a couple of days ago. Edited by pdbman 2010-06-16 4:18 PM |
