Swim
Comments: My legs felt heavy like they had no blood flow. The water was 82 so it wasn't that. Now I know I should warm up. I started mid pack in my wave and there was more bumping than I'm used to. At one point I clocked some guy in the head, stopped and said sorry, then started swimming again. I'm still not sure who was off line, could very well have been me. What would you do differently?: Warm up. Transition 1
Comments: Pretty good time. The timing mat was right at the entrance so the run up the hill was added to the swim. The distance from my rack to bike out was pretty long so I'm very happy with this time. 3/10 in my age group, can't complain. What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: I was happy with the bike. It was interesting having USAT officials on motorcycles looking for people drafting. This was my first race with motorcycle officials. My goal was a 20 mph average and I just missed it due to the hills. I had one water bottle with me and I had banana Nuun in it. When I first tried the Nuun, it sat well with my body. Now after a dozen or so rides with it, my body doesn't like it. I only drank half the bottle because I was afraid it wouldn't stay down. Time to try something else. What would you do differently?: switch to water. Transition 2
Comments: Look run from bike in to my rack. Had to adjust my timing belt a bit. Overall good, but my goal is 1 minute for T2. 3/10 in my age group, can't complain. What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: It was getting hot on the run. The concrete was radiating the heat like a sauna. Since it was only three miles, I tried to give it all I had. I was working hard and not going as fast as I would like. I need to work on my turnover rate and stride length. I felt strong on the run for once. This should get better as I increase my mileage for my half marathon in October. What would you do differently?: nothing Post race
Warm down: lots of water and gatorade followed by watermelon, pasta salad and oranges, then a couple beers. What limited your ability to perform faster: Time in endurance sports. This was my 5th tri with my first being in May. I keep getting stronger and they keep getting more fun. Event comments: Volunteers were awesome. Last updated: 2010-06-28 12:00 AM

Ate a banana and a yogurt. Met up with fellow BTer Ryan (bigr82) and drove to the race site and set up. I racked my bike the night before which was nice.
A little stretching. I decided not to swim since this was only 500 meters, the warmup was 45 minutes before my wave, and I had a good swim at a tri last weekend (1100 yard swim). Ate a GU 10 minutes before the race.
