Subject: Reston training questions
It looks as though my job may be sending me to Reston, VA(not sure where, exactly, just in that town) during the week - fly in Monday morning, fly out Friday afternoon/evening) for the next few months.  As I'm ramping into my IM Cozumel training, I'm obviously going to be doing a lot of training during the time I'd be in Reston.  There aren't any 24 Hour Fitness locations in VA so I'm going to be looking for swimming pools, running trails, & probably a place to rent a bike given that I doubt they'll pay to let me ship my bike.  Could someone give me some tips on where I could accomplish any or all of these things?

In terms of biking and running trails, there are many in and around Reston neighborhoods.

However, the Washington & Old Dominion trail ("the W&OD" as it's called) is the a great resource and, for me at least, is my default starting place for either rides or long runs.  If you are working in Reston you will undoubtedly be close to the W&OD.
Here is some info on the W&OD trail:

The Reston Bike Club has regular rides I believe on Tuesdays and Thursdays after work and they start in Reston.  I've not ridden with them but I've heard from many their rides are great.

I'm going to let others weigh in on pools as I'm not that familiar with the offerings in Reston proper.  However, there are Fairfax County RECenters fairly close by which have pools open for lap swimming (I swim at Cub Run RECenter in Chantilly, but that's not all that close to Reston).
Here's the general RECenter link http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/wp-recenter.htm

re: bike rentals - I've not looked into that and don't really know.  The Performance Bike Shop in Reston may be a good resource to find out who might do bike rentals, though.

There are lots of gyms in the area, too.  I actually teach a Spinning class at Gold's Gym "Clocktower" location in nearby Herndon if you are interested (it's Thursday's at 6:30pm).

Best of luck!

Reston has a YMCA.

Claude Moore Park has a nice Indoor Pool.

You could come do a drop in swim with Team TPR

Well, looks like I'm not heading out there after all.  Thanks for the suggestions though!
