Total Time = 1h 42m 38s
Overall Rank = 145/302
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 8/22
Pre-race routine:

Up at five. Ate a bagel with peanut butter & a banana. Felt pretty calm.
A lot of walking through transition area, making sure I knew where to come in and out for each event, counted rows and racks.
Event warmup:

No real warmup.
Swim
  • 20m 17s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 42s / 100 meters
Comments:

Felt good through the whole swim. My goal was to not have to flip on to my back and I didn't. I freestyled the majority of the swim with a few breast strokes to sight. There was no panic at all--managed it all very well.
What would you do differently?:

Push a little harder.
Transition 1
  • 03m 2s
Comments:

Felt T1 went very well. Found my bike no problem, very systematic in my approach.
What would you do differently?:

Speed it up!
Bike
  • 47m 12s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 15.61 mile/hr
Comments:

Loved the bike! Felt great...had minor problems deciding what gear to stay in, but overall had a blast on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Push harder!
Transition 2
  • 02m 36s
Comments:

Again felt totally calm and was very systematic.
What would you do differently?:

Speed it up!
Run
  • 29m 30s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

Run was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I felt like I was barely moving so I was pleased to see I still ran under a 10 minute mile, even with the hills. Felt like my legs really didn't get going until 2.5 miles into it. It was hot...dumped water on my head at both water stations.
What would you do differently?:

Push harder!
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed a few oranges, walked around a bit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Inexperience

Event comments:

My first triathlon couldn't have gone any better! I loved every minute of it!

I could hardly wait to read your report. It seems as if I have been a cross country coach right along with you.

You should submit an article being an English teacher. I will read it.
