Subject: SE Michigan Ride - Sat, 7/30

Hey, Meeeechiganders!!! (and Canadians that flee across the border, and maybe Ohioans and Indianaians (heh) that finally have realized their state's shortcomings) - A few folks have expressed interest in riding on Saturday, 7/30, I think down at Kensington, in the AM.

At this point we don't know interest level, length of ride, pace, or damn near anything else.  We'll sort all that out.  But we do know that there's a Big Boy nearby, which is a required training element.

But for now, anyone interested go ahead and post here so we can get you the detail once Trixie invents it.    I'll hit most of the usual suspects and newbies via blog or PM...

So far:  Trixie, rkreuser.

i'm thinking 8:30, then we can get riding at 9.  hows that sound?  we will try to stay as one group(depending on how many show) and ride the first part @ 15+(?) then the ones that want to go long we can pick up the pace when we drop off the shorter distance folks.  how does that sound?  if there is a decent turn out we may split into two groups. is kensington or island lake better for bikers? (not riding the sidewalks, there is a posted speed limit of 15)

btw, when i say longer distances, i believe rick and i (maybe dana, too-i'll bring a tow strap incase you get tired) are planning 40-50. so shorter distances would be 20ish?

Thanks for the invite, but I have plans this Saturday.

Kensington is my favorite place to train. Hopefully I will catch some of you guys out there sometime soon.

I'm probably closer to the 40 mile distance without killing myself. Might be able to do 50. I have gloves now. 9 am as a meet up time sounds good to me. I have no idea what the ride options look like. I am going to leave it up to someone else to plot the ride path.

I am tentatively interested. I am a newbie who has never been on a group ride so I am a little chicken. If you all decide to do a ride where I could drop off at 12-15 miles I'm in. And no laughing at my bike!

You come and stick with me. I swear and avow I will not leave you, in fact you will probably slow down for me. I will not laugh at your bike (wait till you see mine, but only for ONE MORE WEEK! Connie is picked up a week from today) and I will share my Gatorade with you. I am serious here. I will totally stick with you. I am intimidated by the big guns showing up If you want my number pm me.

believe me, we are far from being big guns, and the only reason i would laugh at your bike is if it had training wheels or it was one of them there 3 wheelers that the old ladies ride with their little dogs in the front basket.  we won't leave anyone stranded.  it'll be lots of fun, too.  i swear!

Thanks Nancy! You talked me into it! My bike isn't too bad actually. It's just a mountain bike that I "borrowed" from my husband. I had it fixed up and adjusted to fit me better at the LBS last week so it's not terrible but it is not a road or tri bike so I wasn't sure if I was going to get laughed right off the road. Anyway, thanks for making me feel welcome to join the ride - see you Saturday!

No training wheels but I guess I should take the flowered basket and little bell off the handlebars, huh? : )

Well now I don't feel like I am going to be the only slow one out there.

How did you know my bike is a three wheeler with a dog in the basket? My Siberian Husky looks real cute up there (yeah right.. a sibe in a basket.. snort..)

It seems like I'm always busy during these get togethers.  This weekend it's Escanaba for my wife's class reunion.  And what's the rule on a baseball card in the spokes because that's just cool?
