Ummm.  There aren't very many of us that DON'T wear something obnoxious.  Sorry you can't make it, but seriously, try to track us down. Check the thread for specifics of where we'll meet.

I'll be wearing a bright yellow and orange crazy swirly jersey thing designed to hypnotize people into thinking I'm fast

ok, i'm back.  here's the deal, we all will ride too fast (even the 'slower' people) to ride safely on the paved path so we have to ride the park roads.  there was a 12 mile out and back (kinda) in island lake and there is a bridge that goes under the highway that leads to kensington for the 8 mile loop they have there.  the bridge will be on the previously mentioned path, but we should be able to handle slowing down for a bit. so we could meet either place.  but Kensington is probably the way to go, as we are a little more familiar with that area.  the place we met before was a ways into the park on the right hand side right after a downhill, what was it called?  does anyone remember?  i'll look at a map and get back to you, unless someone beats me to it.

West Boat Lauch, got it. I will do an out and back of the 12 miles and you can pass me coming and going : ) I am all good with that too, sincerely. NO ONE should feel like they have to go slow to make me feel good about myself or anything. I am just happy to be meeting up with you all and then it's PANCAKES! (you know the funny thing is I never, ever order them. I think about it, plan it and dream about it then end up with an egg white omelette, but maybe this weekend).

You know what you get when you sit on a fence? Picket up your butt. If you show up I will bring you a Corona! I will, however, need to see some ID.

I am not hauling limes in my car.

I am SOOO bummed I can't make it!  I am actually going to be there but am involved in a "mock" tri to work on transitions, etc.  I really, really want to get together with everyone next time.  Someone wear something obnoxious so if I see you guys I'll swing over or try to chase you down to say hello!

I won't be wearing anything obnoxious but I will be the one riding the three-wheeled bike with the flowered basket and little bell on the front. ; ) Still trying to find a clothespin so I can attach a playing card to the back wheel so I can get that motorocycle sound effect going.

If anyone is considering doing this but not a poster or on the fence because they have not done a group thing and they are slow then get off the fence and join us! I am slow, VERY slow. I promise anyone considering this is faster than me. If you are afraid of people doing super distances then a little jog of, oh say 50 miles, then please come anyway! Some of the people here are really working hard to very long distance races and talking to people like that is very motivating, even if you have never done a race and cannot concieve of it!

This is the perfect venue for trying out a first group ride. The distances are varied and even if you are as slow as me you will get done about the same time as the super long distance people. I sat on the fence for a long time before I went on my first group run. I was so scared I would look like an idiot or have the wrong shoes or something then I did it three years ago and wondered why I waited so long? Faster people will make you faster, no doubt about it.

So don't worry about what you wear or your bike looks like or anything. Just worry about getting up early enough. I am so excited to meet everyone tomorrow. I am a bit annoying, (been compared to a Cocker Spanial personality wise and it is not far off. Think 41 year old cheerleader on crack) but I am good hearted and would never so much as raise an eyebrow at anyone. Well I can't. I ride an el-cheapo bike and don't have a super kewl bike wardrobe, but I am darn fun at a party!

So join us, PLEASE! You will not regret it and if you do I will buy you a pancake.

So last night my training partner (read eevil training partner) decides he wants to go on this ride too. OK fine, but he is constantly late so I tell him we have to be there at 8 am. It is now 8:06 am. He told me he would be here at 7:30 ish. I called him at 10 to 8 and he was in the shower! He was actually irritated that I called. I don't know whether to take the van and leave my family without a car for the morning or bag it. I am pretty pi$$ed at the moment.

I don't mind him coming along. He can ride with others and learn a little about group rides but I really mind his treating this like it is a joke and that everyone should wait for him.

I had so much fun! Thank you for letting me come along! I just had a blast.

I would have had a beer but I am a REALLY cheap drunk and one beer puts me under the table. No lie.
