I'm looking  forward to doing the OBX Gobbler 5k with my nine year old daugther on Thanksgiving Day, followed by "the Giblet" family race with her six year old sister.

What's everyone else up to on Thanksgiving Day?

My hubby and I are doing the Chase the Turkey 5k race at 8 a.m. Thursday. It's been 6 years since I've done a 5k, so I would love to PR, but realistically probably not gonna happen.  I'm not wearing a watch or a Garmin.  My only expectation from this race is to have fun and get a really nice tech shirt.

I haven't registered yet, but I did it last year.  My first race of any type after I decided to do tris.

It was cold last year, but I took the bike out of the truck and went for a short ride afterwards.  Couldn't have been too bad. This year the forecast  calls for 19º-37º for the day. Ouch, 20º or so is likely at 9am for race time.

With me STILL not running much and it being so cold it will really take tapping into the HTFU/That Guy vibe to toe that line...of course I still have an annoying cough from a cold last week. Sigh.

And I was looking to ride my bike to the race as a warm-up. That is not particularly appealing to me below freezing.

I'll probably show up. I like the shirt they gave out last year and could use another one!

The Cohasset Thanks-for-giving 5k at 7:30 Thursday morning. My first time running this, and my second 5k race this week! Plan to run hard the whole way so to give myself a free pass on guilt from the eating frenzy which is sure to follow later in the day.

We'll have to compare notes on how our respective 9 year olds fare!  My daughter did the same event last year but ran/walked with my wife and her younger sister.  This year she's determined to run the whole thing - we'll see!

One way or the other, i?t's gratifying to see them taki?n?g? ?a?n? ?i?n?t?e?r?e?s?t????!

I'm doing the Breakaway Farms 5k... OK, really that means I'm running around the block (3 miles) from my farm.  The entry fee is cheap and the field is small.  Tongue out   I did an organized Turkey Trot this past Saturday.

I'm probably doing the Hobble Then Gobble 5 mile run Thursday morning. Haven't signed up but pretty sure I'm going to. Haven't run at all since my half marathon November 14th, need to get back at it or I'll be struggling out there.
