The RD left to go work for Ironman.  They just hired a new guy- an IM athlete himself.  I don't know much more than that, though.   Nevertheless, the basic team is still there and should be a great event as always.

If you live around here, you can go get early signup by visiting the Fitness Center. I didn't do it last year b/c I didnt want to make the trip over the bridge and I was sort of looking for a way out if I couldn't get in via online reg (I was scared of my first OLY!).   Yeah, Wendi, I remember doing this now.

We're getting a hotel again, even though we live on the other side of the bay, but we're there the whole weekend, figure gas=hotel in price.

OH YEAH this was a grand ol' time!!  My parents might even come out next year.

BTW, it didn't really sell out in 24 hours, the website was still open for registrations for two, maybe three days.  But that's at least what I saw when I checked in to see how it was doing. Why they say 24 I have no idea.

Can I drink out of your vodka glass?

Sure, just don't mess with my onions...:-)

Some wisecracks I just have to keep to myself. Prudent thing to do.

I forgot to mention Jessica (Tri Take Me Away) and Polly (NYTrigal?), too! What a nice group of people I met that weekend.

This race rocked.  It makes a great season opener.  And the break from a northern spring is nice.

I'm looking forward to doing it again in 2006.  In a brand new age group.

run4yrlif - 2005-08-11 1:05 PM And come to think of it, I most likely won't be racing, but I should be there with a )hopefully) large contingent of TNT triathletes, since I'll be coaching again next year.

Hey Jim- I don't think I'll do this one again with TNT- I'll probably sign up on my own.  If I do TNT it'll be for Gulf Coast!  How's that sound??

I can't wait to do this race again.  It'll be 3 weeks after IMAZ for me, so maybe no PR but it will be fun anyway. I am having so much fun going to races and meeting fellow BTers - it's the best!

Didn't someone mention in a previous thread or race report about how many folks had their IMAZ shirts on at the pre race festivities?  I saw one a month or so later at Mad Beach.  Wear it and psych your competetion out!

My ST A's shirt is still one of my favorites- I wear it a lot!!  I'm so proud of it!  And it's a very cool shirt.

BT rocks!!

Signup begins Dec 1, 2005 at 9am EST.  I know its early, but mark your calendar now for the best event of the year.  Get up early, set your browser to http://www.satriathlon.com/ and get registered.  The 2005 event sold out in 24 hours.

The event was an absolute blast this year (2005) and will be the BT Triathlon Season kick-off for 2006.  This race sets the standard for all triathlons, its first class, well organized, and in a beautiful location (St. Petersburg, FL).  The course is flat and fast.  All of us who attended last year vowed to return better, faster, and stronger.

Hope to see you there.

St. Anthony's is a national Team in Training event...sign up for the program and get guranteed entry and expenses-paid trip (as well as a life-changing experience).

(Shameless plug over)

Hey it's a great shameless plug. I've done St. A's several times with TNT. It really is an awesome program, and the race isn't too bad either.

I'm going to have to move to Florida.  All the really good races are there.  I may sign up for this since I probably won't be able to do Danskin (if it's the same weekend as last year my Nephew decded to get married on that Saturday).  After a winter of treadmill running and trainer rides I will be aching to get out!!!

No, Machiavelo, get a hotel.  I, like Sue, live an hour away and I"m getting a hotel as I did last year.  So worth it.   Four hour drive, you'll be up at 1am to start driving to arrive there well in time for the 6am or so transisiton opening.  No parking worries.

It's only a 30 minute drive for me at 5am but I'm still going to get a hotel room. No drink/drive issues to worry about that way. Drink/dial might be a problem but not drink/drive.

Okay you silver tongued devil, you talked me into it. Just let me know where the hotel is and I'll join you! I was going to fly out there but I suppose that now you will tell me that my arms will get too sore!!! ... :-)

This sounds fun but I don't know if I could do an Oly distance by then. I will figure it out by Dec. 1st I guess!

Looks like we'll be driving up through the night on Thursday, then D will fly back after the race on Sunday (he must be at work on Monday) and I'll drive back solo.

Any hotel recommendations?

Check the St. A website- they had some hotel recommendations. I stayed at a Comfort Inn about 3-4 miles away. It was okay, but next year I'm going to try to stay at a bed and breakfast or at a place that's right near the race so I don't have to worry about parking, etc.

Is everyone planning on staying at the same B and B that most of them did last year?  The place we had dinner at?

I'm looking at hotels.  While I was there, I noticed a hotel with a cafe thing out front, and I can't remember the name of it!!  It was right there on I think, Beach Dr.

Subject: BT St. A's 2006 Signup - HOTELS??

Hotels are pretty scare and tough to find...especially close to the race site...

I've found that the Alden is still accepting reservations.  Its on the Gulf side of St. Pete and is more of a drive, but has a nice beach.  Pricing in the 120/night range.

I've made a reservation at a Hampton in that is more in town.  We stayed there last year.  Priced at around $90 bucks per night if you're just there over the weekend...though it doesn't have a restaurant, etc.  Good breakfast though.

Do we have an official BT crashing point?  I'd love to be able to be in the same location as everyone if possible.

I've noticed that. I didn't realize that entire hotels would be booked up this far in advance. Looks like I better take care of reserving something today!

Ok ya'll- I can't decide if I should do this one or not.  I'll be in Tampa at the end of February for a marathon.  I can't see going back to Tampa a few months later, and then a few weeks later being in Florida again for Gulf Coast.  I'm going to have to pass on this one.  It's a great race though!
