According to the CURRENT forecast, which will change daily from now unti race start, it looks like it will be warm and sunny.  Of course, at IMKS there was an 80% chance of rain and it didn't.  I can trust forecasts around here about as far as I can throw my goggles.  There will be no rain but a record hot day probably.  Racing in hot weather better than not racing at all.

Oh poo.

I was out of the state for a month and this was my first reminder of this race and it is full already.  And I just came off my longest ride ever and was still able to run the next day.  I'd tear it up...

I might sign up for all 3 of the Mayhem series...

You should.  Midwest tri series should be a good time this year.  I hear they may be posting some discounts soon.

I only paid $140 for 3 races, can't be that deal.  I've heard a little noise about course markings, no awards ceremonies, lack of volunteers etc. but I treat these 3 races as me against the clock, the other AG'ers that's it.  If I don't know the course, my fault ....

Jackson County had around 435 in the sprint last year, not sure how many in the Oly.  Big event, lots of competitors.

If you want the total race pageantry with ceremonies, the best food in town, tons of voluteers, lots of water stations etc. then maybe these are not the races for you.  But if you want to just race, see what you're made of, HTFU etc. then I say these series is good for that.

But again, $140 for 3 races ......

That was the early bird price, not sure of price today.

If you want to HTFU, than you are going to come and race with me in Branson. That is where you find out what you are made of, not at KLM series. Just joking, enjoying the thread though. Not racing local for the rest of the year. Heading for Branson in September and Tempe for Soma Half in October. Two totally opposite courses. SM stings no matter how tough you are. The bike course is always a challenge. Was toying with an idea of doing a 2-3hr ride looping at the park, hurts just thinking about it.

You're right on there Aleks, I'm about to pull the trigger and register for Branson.  That bike course puts the fear into me and doing laps around SM Park is definitely the way to prepare.  Most I've done is 6 laps around SM park, a little over 27 miles and that was a good workout.  Off the saddle after the dam every time, good fun!

Aww just a lil' joke! But I can't say I'll ever do a KLM race again, except maybe Jackson County. Too many "oopsies" with no acknowledgement or responsibility taken. Just equals bad customer service in my mind and there are plenty of other races (now) to spend my money on.

$140 is a great deal for 3 races, but I can't resist saying maybe you get what you pay for

I couldn't get in. Maybe it will rain again...schadenfreude...Tongue out

Midwest Mayhem last year was my last race of the season and I came in dead last.  They tried to scrape me off the course but I was not going to get in the truck if not forced.  This year they can announce me as last year's DFL, I doubt I'll have that position again! (New tri-bike and some actual run training this year...)

That be me.  Cool  Who are you on Phog?  I will be in the royal blue 2XU tri suit with white and gray trim and riding a vintage gray Cannondale aluminum road bike with hot pink handlebars, lettering and seat.  We call it the "Debbie Gibson Special."  Borrowed from my brother to see how I could do with a little training to complement my best events (swim and run).  He bought it in 1990, thus the color scheme.  Still a pretty darn good bike, but I think I will soon be looking for my own permanent ride.  However, the pink makes me ride faster because I can't be at the back of the pack and pull off a pink bike.  Smile

I'll be out tomorrow to volunteer, but, in my in my infinite wisdom I waited too long to sign up also. So it's Mayhem Oly for me. Can't wait to see that hurt locker inside. Laughing

Look for the grey vibrams on a pudgy volunteer, that will probably be me.

I haven't picked up my packet yet but will try to remember to report back this evening.  I'll just wander around yelling "ENTERING SEVERE PHOG!!!!" in the transition area.

By the way, what is the wave order?  Short course before long course?  Other way around?  Age group breakup?

Long course first. Your age group 40-49 is first off at 7.

Just did 4 laps around the course, you guys are in for a real treat.  Make sure you get some speed and gear accordingly on that Dam hill.  Lap 4 was tough for me today.

Good luck out there everyone.

Good luck to all of you tomorrow.

I just finished signing up for the Midwest series.  $180 and change for 3 races, including 3 USAT day licenses and fees.  Not bad, since so far I've done pretty much every race at the last minute and paid the premiums...

I have a pink helmet to match my nails at the races now, and I might pick up pink tires too...I wont be hard to find.

Thanks for being out there as a volunteer. It was a little toasty on that run, not much air movement.
