That be me.  Cool  Who are you on Phog?  I will be in the royal blue 2XU tri suit with white and gray trim and riding a vintage gray Cannondale aluminum road bike with hot pink handlebars, lettering and seat.  We call it the "Debbie Gibson Special."  Borrowed from my brother to see how I could do with a little training to complement my best events (swim and run).  He bought it in 1990, thus the color scheme.  Still a pretty darn good bike, but I think I will soon be looking for my own permanent ride.  However, the pink makes me ride faster because I can't be at the back of the pack and pull off a pink bike.  Smile

Good going out there today, BTW very cool bike, and yes I am serious. Love the color scheme.

Well, I kicked a$$ in the swim, held my own on the bike - - - - - - then bonked on the run.  The run is one of my stronger suits, that is, until it follows a 1000m swim, 18 mi. hilly bike, and HEAT!!!  Oh well, live and learn.  Back off the bike a bit during the race and prepare better for the heat.  I also need to Harden the Frack Up.  Backed off the run a bit too much when it got nasty hot and I hit that hill at the end of the dam.

Got to meet joncolbybohnsack and IMHusker!  I think IMHUsker and I argued over who had the worst bonk.  Or was that someone else?  Thanks for the compliment on the bike.  I had 3 people offer to trade me at the Topeka Tinman, and 2 more today.  Too funny.

And thanks for volunteering!  You probably saw me take a walk break through the turnaround.  Embarassed

Great job out there today, I was in body marking first, then was in Transition (bike area) the rest of the race.  There was a guy who came in from the swim, put a towel around his waist and changed into what looked like bike shorts.  This female volunteer was standing right next to him, she got embarassed and walked over towards me.  He definitely wasn't concerned about T1 time.  That's a tough 18 miles, especially if you hammer it.  The hottest part of the day was breaking down the bike racks as the temp. got to about 100 degrees.  Good thinng the run was over when it was.

But NO RAIN so hot racing is better than no racing Cool

I'll be racing the Midwest series so this won't be the last hot race.

I was going to ask what the temp got up to in KC yesterday.
In Wichita we had a high of 111, but during race time (I did Mudwater Tri) it was (only? ha) over 90 by the time I finished. We had wet icy towels at every aid station that were a total godsend. I want to hug whoever came up with that idea!

Good job to everyone who raced - glad the weather cooperated this year, at least rain-wise

I actually read somewhere that a race gave out finishers towels at the end of the race that came out of a bucket of ice water. I would of loved that yesterday. Better than another t shirt.

It was hot for sure. I didn't know how hot until I got out of my shade. A lot of runners looked pretty beat up at our station. I'll be that guy this Sunday I'm sure. Lol. First oly, and I'm in survival mode for sure.

Turns out it is a set of Zipp 1080/808 clinchers. Don't know if I am worthy of these. They will probably end up in their boxes for a couple of years because I will be to scared to take them out. Coolest thing I have ever won.

That is freaking awesome!!!  Congrats!  I wish I had won them so that I could sell them and get a real tri bike.

And congrats to IMAHusker!

Nicely done Trey (IMHusker).  I was working the bike rack area in Transition (white cap), I really felt for those people with mountain bikes.  The dam hill must have been quite the challenge, hopefully all the MTB'ers were doing the sprint.

Maybe I should start a race thread, seems like you can win some nice wheels if you do that.  Congrats Jon!

You need to see the pink saddle to really do that justice.
