I'm off to the club. I have no idea what I'll be doing there today. I am so disorganized. OK, I guess I'll ride the bike trainer and watch the other women when my wife isn't looking!

Funk. In the funk. My shoes are stuck to the floor. Alarm goes off. Missed the swim last night. Got to bed early. Doesn’t matter. Still grim. Alarm off. Wake up. Sleep. Wake up sleep. Ponder complex calculations about the benefits of dragging my sorry arse around the mean streets or just stay in bed.
I get up. Dress. Drink water. Stretch. Go outside. Cool wind. Nice. Sun just rising. Walk down to the road. Stretch some more. Observe people driving past. Some have coffee. Bastards. Shuffle off up the road. Walk, jog, walk, jog. Do the short course. Stagger home. Make smoothie and consume. Drink water. Eat cantaloupe. Still hungry. Make garlic sausage, cheese and onion toasted sandwich. Consume. Undo the little good work I did. Find funk again. In it. Can’t get out.

Subject: What a start to my day
My morning started at 3:45 when I heard my husband yelling at the dog to shut up. Then, he fell into the bathtub while looking out the window. More cursing ensues. He goes to the front of the house to see why the dog is still barking and sees three teenagers across the street. At 3:45 am. Smoking pot. How does he know? Well, one girl says, "I looovvvee pot. Pass me the bong." So he shines a spotlight on them and scares them off. At least that's what Hubby tells me. At 3:45 am. When I want him to just shut the #%$* up so I can go back to sleep.

Traffic accident on the way into work. Then, a Canadian goose decides to cross the road. Funny thing is -- there's no body of water anywhere close by!

So my day has gotten off to a fabulous start. My feet hurt in varying places even though I haven't done any running since Friday. I'm on the verge of chucking all my high-heel shoes (not even that high) and wearing running shoes to work. And now, the coffee pot is burning because some idiot put an empty pot on a hot burner.

On the plus side, we had a sample sale yesterday and I was able to get two sports bras and two dri-power tanks for $8.

Oh, wait, I guess this thread was actually about exercise. I'm gonna run some and then go to Pilates. If I don't kill anyone, that is.

Oh poor Mike. Those days just happen, don't they? Maybe do something wonderful for yourself? Some modest retail therapy might be in order I'll bet you're propelling your athletic self through the streets of New Hampshire again before long.

My plan for the day:
yoga
a short swim over my lunch hour
step class followed by an abs class this evening

Day 2 of recovery after the sprint tri! Soreness behind my right knee is bothersome and the cuts on my feet are still healing so tomorrow it will be a swim day. Maybe I'll do core exercises later today.

First of all Mike, you've got to shake off your funk. I know how you feel. When I get to feeling that way, I make sure I get a good night's rest and get back to my daily discipline. For me, this week is a half-week; it's week three in my training month, which means every third week is an easy week just for rest/recovery purposes. Workouts will be cut in half, except the swim, which I cut back but not in half. Second, have a hilly 5 mile race in Madison Wis on Sat. and want to be rested for that. Rode 30 mins this AM.

Mike,My man. There's nothing wrong with a little funk. Every heard of Earth Wind and Fire? Put a little of that on and that can make the funk, funkier than ever! Cheer up little buckaroo. It's just life. No big deal! You'll be back at it in no time. I think you're missing volleyball. So find something else that makes you grin. Water polo? Woo Hoo, what a day! Thank the Lord that I live in the beautiful United States of America smack dab in the middle of God's country. Beautiful blue sky, sunny, whispy white clouds it's a great day to be alive.Ran 1 mile before spin class (13:16 woo hoo!!!!! I'm doing about a mile of pure running 4.6-5.0 mph a day! Yeahhhhh, progress). Then it was off to spin 1hr. Hills, intervals and my favorite JUMPSSSSS! wOO HOO DOGGIES, BRING IT ON!Then off to the pool for the 1/2 mile swim. 19:15. Just took it easy. Felt great in the water. I'm going to have to learn to swim faster becuase my heart rate barely changes when I swim. After work it's off to the the gym for weights and more swimming and then I have a date. Woo Hoo!Have a good day training all!

Today's my second brick of the week. 1/2 mile swim, 10 mile bike. I'm kind of in a funk too. Lately I've really been missing my "base training". I did 3 months of base, and now I'm in a "race prep" phase, which means bricks, bricks, and bricks, plus a few intervals thrown in. This will last until the middle of May. The I'm restarting a base phase for a 1/2 Iron I hope to do in September. 1/2 Iron, and I haven't even done a Sprint yet.....

Was a bit tired today, so I only did Pilates (1 hour). It's a good thing I decided not to swim, apparantly the pool was murky and COLD.

Will pick up my bike next Monday or Tuesday. I have to buy a bike rack to fit my husbands Jeep hitch.

    Have a good day.

I want some of what Ovetta had for breakfast!!!

Mike -- go get a massage to reward yourself for all the good training you have been doing. You WILL pop out of this funk in time.

Me -- 25 minutes on the eliptical for shin therapy, and 60 minutes of weight training.

Just got back from a little run, does anyone hate running as much as I do? I only went for a .59 mile run. Not very far, but I have to push the kids and the trailer goes everywhere. Biked 1.18 to find out how far I ran. I have to remember that I used to hate biking too, that it took me a while to get where I am now with riding. I think I will go on another ride later. I need to start getting up earlier so I can run before my husband and kids get up.
