Rest day. I'm off to the bike shop, bringing the bike for it's free tune up (given by them after you purchase a new bike). While I'm there, I hope to try on a wetsuit as I think they still have some of last years models on sale. This should be fun!

Rest last night - feel refreshed today. The weather is terrible here, but if it clears up, I will run 5 miles tonight. If it doesn't clear up, I will head to the pool and try to improve on last week's 800 yard one-shot distance.

Going to ride my bike tonight -- at least an hour.

I spoke with my Pilates instructor after class last night about running. She has run a few marathons before and has the same knee problems I have. She advised me to cut down on my running to no more than 3 days a week, but preferably 2, and just do a long run and a short run. She said she overtrained for her first marathon and that by cutting down to 2 days a week, she shaved 30 minutes off her subsequent time. I think I'll give this a try in the next few weeks and see how it goes.

Other than that, doing okay. Need to get to bed earlier tonight.

To Lara -- I hope the dentist can fix your toothache!

There were tornadoes out by us yesterday, so I think I'm switching my workout plan for the day. (They weren't HERE. They were a few towns over.) But I'd just as soon not be out on the roads on my bike and potentially in the way of the response vehicles and downed power lines, etc....

So, new plan:
yoga, with an upper body focus
running -I'll just run the track at the gym
full-body weight circuit

Lara, I hope your tooth feels better soon. Are you seeing the dentist today?

My first check-in!

I'm hoping my walking buddy will be able to walk with me around the parking lot at lunch (it looks silly to do it by meself). Other than walking (which we walk pretty fast), I do not have any other training plans, as I have a class tonight and my best friend is in town to see my sick Grandmother, so we will be going there to be with her after my class.

Hopefully, on Thursday or at least by this weekend, I'll get to start trying to start jogging or even fix up my bike to ride. And next week I'll go to the first Team in Training info meeting to see how that training is set up. Whoopie!

I'm such a newbie.

I plan on running/walking 3 miles today. I have my first 5k on friday. I am so bumbed there is not going to be anyone there to cheer me on. I guess I just need to do this for myself, but for my first race I kind of wanted someone there.

Ahhhh! It is a rest day for me - which is good because our nice weather has left and we have a cool, rainy day today (but we need that rain here in CO as it is dry as always)

I did not get out of bed until 7:30! (that's like noon for non-tri people)  Anyhow....

Rode my bike 22.5 miles. I did a fairly straight stretch of road, out and back.  Hilly too.  I've named all of those hills but there is nothing I can actually print here   You'll have to use your imagination.  It was chilly when I left, but within a mile or two it had miraculously warmed up.  And now the temp is exactly where it was when I left, go figure

came home and did weights.  I think I'll swim tomorrow.  Afraid I'd drown if I tried to do that today.

Biked to rec center, 45 minutes of weights, 2 miles interval running, then biked back. It's a very chilly day here, and while that cold rain didn't help my mood on the ride back, it sure provided motivation to get home!

Swam 2000 yards, hurt my lower back over the weekend, so I'm real light on the running and no bike for a while - works for me as this is fiesta week in San Antonio! Viva Fiesta!

Today it was off to the dermatologist for a mole removal. He had the audacity to tell me "lay off the swimming for at least 10-14 days"! I basically told him that was impossible. I haven't spent 4 months training for my triathlon season which starts in 10 days for a stupid mole! So we compromised. He took one small mole, and gave me some type of waterproof patch and said I could swim, then get the other larger mole taken off in 3 months. He first said, "just call us when you get done with that crap", and then I explained how serious I was about training and how important triathlons are to me right now.

As for training...it was 40 minutes of drills and sets at the pool, tonight it's 30 minutes of easy running, and circuit weights! The countdown is at T minus 10 and counting (until my first Tri).

i'm laughing at your doctor's reaction, but i can't believe he referred to your training as "crap." he should be congratulating you and supporting you. amazing.

Did bike and run training today. Ran a mile @ 10mm pace, HR 144, biked 5 miles HR 130, 80-90 rpm's -- then ran 1 mile @10mm pace, then biked 5 miles again. I read that it is supposed to get your legs used to the transition between the bike and run.

My legs felt like spaghetti!!!!!
